MTV music video awards. I ain’t that old but it looks like a parody show

Omg
Everyone looked liked stupid douches. What happened to “cool”or “badass”?

Oh wait, Aerosmith brought that out at the very very end of the show. Isn’t it embarrassing that the coolest badass on stage is an octogenarian!

Honestly though, SMH. Especially the douche wearing the PJ’s at the end with another douche pretending to play a guitar. WTF?

Madonna? WTF?

Yeah I guess I’m officially old old to think it looks like a parody show.

The only thing good about it was Kevin hart and Tiffany Haddish making fun of everyone.

That’s how relevant this show has become. I only knew about it because it came on my media feed at the exact time as it was on so I tuned to it just by happenstance.

YOU MISSED NOTHING!

I saw a list of performers and decided i would rather eat broken glass than sit through three hours of that. The only music awards show i still watch is the grammys, and I think I may never tune in again to even that. Modern artists are embarrassing to watch, and as pleasant to listen to as analog static noise on a tv at maximum volume.

I didn’t watch but heard they had Madonna pay tribute to Aretha Franklin and she spent that whole time talking about herself. The photos I saw of her, she looked awful. Especially the stupid grills she’s still wearing. Hey Madonna grow the F up already.

This tweet seemed to sum it up well. lol

I find it strange that they did a " tribute" to Aretha Franklin but did nothing for Prince, Bowie, or George Michael if I remember correctly. Just strange to me.

I know people will say I'm just getting old, which is probably true seeing as I'm 55 now, but I don't bother with these shows anymore. I KNOW my man Prince is not there, so I really don't give a shit anymore. Besides, most of the so-called artists have barely an ounce of real talent, so why waste my time? Sure, there are still some musicians that I'd like to see perform, but these kinds of shows have next to no real talent on them anymore. It's a sad state of affairs. I'm so fortunate to have grown up in the era of real music.

NICE!.... I'd do the same... I learned it from Donny Hathaway

Lol god forbid people offend the sensibilities of a serious and accomplished artist like J.Lo, Kylie Jenner or Travi$ Scott. Sure Madonna sounded out of touch but imagine how her tribute is gonna sound when its J.Lo up there talking about lacing up her British Knights and practicing her vogueing before auditioning for In Living Color.

I don't know how to tell you this so I'm just going to say it:

MTV - doesn't play Music or Videos
Video - See above
Music - It isn't music. Aerosmith should be kicked out of the RRHOF for playing with whatever a "Post Malone" is
Awards - All awards shows are nothing more than back-patting exercises.

MTV Jams & VH-1 Soul showed music videos, although they are under BET now and are called BET Jams & BET Soul. MTV2 also show videos during certain times and has music related programming like Hip Hop Squares which is the old Hollywood Squares game show with rappers & current R&B singers. MTV Classic show old videos and a few years ago when it was VH-1 Classic it would show new programs Live From Daryl's House & That Metal Show.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

But the actual MTV network itself shows no videos, correct?

Where are all the people who were defending that crone so heroically when she effed up Prince's tribute?

I love Madonna, however, that speech was really self-serving hmph! disbelief and her outfit was horrible. Either do a proper tribute, or don't do one at all!

There were a lot of regrets onstage. lol

As i was watching the show i was counting all the folks who would be spending a lifetime living down some of this shit. All the idiots with the crappy tattoos on their faces for example. Being young, stupid and on drugs.

I did end up catching some of the show later on....I'm huge Madge fan but that tribute was quite bad. And what kind of look is she going for? I don't understand it.

I don’t even believe in “cultural appropriation” being a real thing, but it looked like she was going for a cultural appropriation vomit of everything she could think of.
