In 1974,when I was just a kid,my mother had Aretha's Let Me In Your Life album. This album was played all the time in our home. The single "I'm In Love" was my mother's favorite.Back then,I was absolutely amazed and fascinated by the high note that Aretha hits in this song (at the 2:03 mark in this video)...it actually scared me (lol),gave me chills biggrin that's what real soul music does to you!

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

First let me start by thanking you Namepeace for starting this thread. It is very much appreciated.

Now my response to your reuest: I don't know how to post songs so I'll just speak to what my favorites are. I like quite a few of her songs. But I'll just talk a little about the "A Rose Is Still A Rose" album.

It's from 1998 and may have been her last really good album. I wasn't interested in the album in the least after just hearing the lead single "A Rose Is Still A Rose", which is a good song, but wasn't enough to make me buy the cd. But then my neighbor decided to blast this cd over and over again and I loved what I heard! I thought "Aretha still getting down like that??!" Lol!

The entire cd is fire to me, but my favorites are "Love Pang" (sangin' her ass off and sounding like a woman in love!) and "The Woman" (very poignant and she's being very vulnerable).

I wish I could thank her personally for all the enjoyment I received from how she chose to share her musical talents with us. Very well done.

Peace

"Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" is another favorite. It's a Stevie Wonder song and his original version is good, but Aretha is one of those artists who can remake a song and truly make it hers music she takes that song to new heights
