Elvis Presley & Lisa Marie Presley Duets - Soft Move or Boss Move?

Over the last 20 years around the time of Elvis Presley's passing, Lisa Marie has done some duets with her dad. The current one was released today, and it would be interesting to see what the current view here is for virtual duets among family members.

Elvis Presley - Where No One Stands Alone (2018)

Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley - I Love You Because (2012)

Elvis Presley & Lisa Marie Presley - In the Ghetto (2007)

Elvis & Lisa Marie Presley - Don't Cry Daddy (1997)

One, like the one done with Natalie Cole and Nat, is beautiful, still gives me the shivers, but 4 topped with what is "rumored" to be going on with her right now, is...let me just leave it at, eh.

Anything edited or compiled after an artist's death without their (obvious) involvement or permission rubs me the wrong way. Be it Prince, Elvis, MJ or anyone else.

Elvis Presley Foundation, Like Lisa Marie, Is Broke: Just $38K In Assets 41 Years After Star’s http://www.showbiz411.com...deathDeath

Lisa Marie Presley isn’t the only member of her extended world who’s broke. So is the Elvis Presley Foundation.

On the eve of the 41st anniversary of the star’s death, his legacy for being charitable is pretty much in shreds. The most recent filing for the Elvis Presley Foundation shows just $38, 384 as the value of all assets.

Ticket and merchandise sales from Graceland are supposed to fund the Foundation. But in 2016-2017 the Foundation received only $12,731 in donations.

The Foundation disbursed $40,000 to a group of local Memphis charities in 2016.

Lisa Marie Presley, personally, says she’s broke and is suing her former advisors for $800,000. It’s quite a saga. She sold 85% of her interest in Elvis Presley Enterprises for $100 million in 2005. Lisa Marie says it’s all gone thanks to bad investments. Reports say she owes back taxes of $10 million from 2012 to 2017. IN February she said she was $16 million debt.

The Foundation has been in decline for some time. But in 2007, the total value of assets was $400,000. By the 2012, the value was down to just $18,804.

One problem with the Elvis income, unlike the Beatles, which is roaring: his sales base has shrunk considerably. First of all, there’s very little streaming. And record sales for this year are only about 132,000. The halcyon days are over. Elvis’s fans are at least ten years older than the Beatles’. And then he wasn’t an album artist. His success was singles, none of which he wrote. So his publishing income is minimal if anything. Like all pre-1972 artists, Elvis suffers from a number of drawbacks including no performance royalty for records played on the radio.

Well, you'll never go to listen to Mozart, Beethoven and the such. The only their music is still alive is because somebody is messing with it.

Completely agree!! LM has very little talent in my opinion. Not like Natalie Cole who could actually sing.

Ok, to rephrase:
I really hate it when people mess (or mine for) the audio recordings that artists make, especially after their death. Even though many artists signed their lives away to corporations and subsequently have no real say in the matter.

i'm sure you're right, that they wouldn't like it either but if there is a buck to be made, someone is gonna try, sad to say.

Yep.

Similar to what Goddess4Real said above, when they were compiling the new (old) after-death MJ stuff they said similar things: they felt MJ was in the room as they worked on the cash-grabs...uh, I mean divinely-inspired music.

Rodney Jerkins, L.A. Reid, Timbaland...

I wanted to vomit.

It apparently had an effect on Darren Hayes ( of Savage Garden) who spoke about changing his Will after seeing what they released "by MJ" after his death.

Speaking of MJ.......Lisa Marie Presley about Michael Jackson hmmm

Reporter - "This year he's turning 60 so when you think about the time with Michael Jackson, what do think about it?"

Lisa - "I think it was incredible and I feel lucky to have experienced that. And to have that part of my life, I'll always just be grateful for the experience."

I have mixed feelings towards these type of duets. With both Natalie Cole & Lisa Marie, they are more acceptable to me because its family. However, for the most part I feel these type of duets are a marketing, cash grab, with people wanting to bask in another artists glory (who probably wouldn't want their work messed with in the first place) eg. Justin Timberlake's singing with Prince at this year's SB or Pac's Life by 2-Pac ft. T.I and Ashanti.
