Bowie's Estate to Release 11 CD Boxed Set

Wow! This is awesome and something the Prince Estate needs to do!!

The fourth in Parlophone Records' series of David Bowie box sets, David Bowie Loving the Alien (1983-1988), is due out on Oct. 21. The 11-CD, 15-LP collection will feature 8 albums from the late rock icon's most successful run.

The CD and vinyl collections will come with 84- (vinyl) or 128-page (CD) hardcover books with rare and previously unseen photos and reprints of press reviews and notes from a number of producers, including Nile Rodgers, Hugh Padgham and Mario McNulty, among others. The CD box set will include reproduced mini-vinyl versions of the original albums, and the CDs will be gold-colored rather than the usual silver. The vinyl box set has the same content as the CD set and is pressed on audiophile quality 180g vinyl.

All us Bowie fans have been nothing but overwhelmingly blessed with beautiful treasures since his death!! The 2 box-sets, Who Can I Be Now and A New Career In A New Town are excellent with so much rare stuff and all albums digitally remastered( The Five Years Box Set came out before his death but even so that has the same accolades from me!!!), As well as the Nothing Has Changed CD set!! Bowie certainly knew how to look after us fans for when the time came for him to leave us!!

I cant really say the same for Prince!! Its been pathetic what has come out of the Prince Estate due to so much wrangling and infighting between the Estate and Executors, etc,!! A pathetic greatest hits CD(4Ever) and the Purple Rain Deluxe Edition and a new outtake album coming out later this year!! But then this is what u get for not having a concise will or directive made out before u die like Bowie obviously did!! The Blast From The Past series has all been online releases, but I would have KILLED to see them all released in physical form!!

HELL, theres even going to be a beautiful box set of rarities and unreleased and alternate versions of his tracks from the Tom Petty Estate coming out later this year as well, which I cant wait to get!!

Love, love, love Bowie and Petty!

It is very gut wrenching for me as a Prince fan, not see this magnitude of his work come out.

Prince fans are losing out big time. We have been begging for something like this for 2 years now. sad

Do folks really need another reissue of material that they already have? Why no release the stuff people don't already own?

This is because Prince did not have a will. If he had a will, we would all be much better off and there would be a lot less fuckery going on with his music and other Prince related stuff. No offence to Tyka, but she doesn't have a clue what to do. A solid will would've meant so much. Instead we get bits and pieces and who knows what will happen with all the wonderful music and memorabilia.

Bowie also had a beautiful, loving wife who will make sure his legacy is handled appropriately.

If you go to 35:00 of this video, this guy bought 70 copies of KISS Alive that were released in different countries and in another part of the documentary another guy bought 10 copies of an AD/DC album.

I don't already have these albums.

And even if I did, if the quality is an upgrade from my copy then I'll check it out. I have The Sacrifice Of Victor on VHS, but if it were rereleased on Blu-ray or better yet, UHD, I'd be first in line to repurchase that film I already have.

If they improve the sonic quality then it makes sense.

If it is the same it doesn't make sense.

Very nice set but I already have all these, including remasters and bonus tracks.

A will would not have helped because PRINCE despite recording tons of music and never releasing it was not doing anything with it but storing it and in most cases not properly and no one really had access to it, he was beyond private none of these other artist like Bowie and Petty were private like that and recording in seclusion. Prince also has material all over the place and in fact his label problems are actually coming back to block a lot of this stuff from ever coming out. The recent signing of the deal to release the later albums is going to be strictly digital, don’t expect repackaging and books and things like that. There are artists with wills that have very little out there since death.

What about the rumor about Stevie Wonder having in his will that all of his unreleased stuff is to be destroyed?

Why would people feel that in death Prince would open the flood gates and let this stuff out there? When he was alive and FREE from obligations to labels and owned stuff unreleased he rarely put anything out

Some people like me have only a few albums and a couple of Greatest hits type releases, so we could be tenmpted in to buying type of product if we ever want to complete our Bowie Colections. It would be much better than just buying CD's or vinyl of each album they don't have.

.

I agree too, the people adminstering the Prince and Michael Jackson estates could take notes from this rather than issuing badly though out hits collections, re releasing old albums over and over with a new song/demo and some interview of the guy sweeping the floor, or in the case of MJ albums with fake songs by imitators on them.

.

The estate needs to release more stuff like this and less time watching Youtube videos and punishing fans for posting content. The copyright greed mania needs to stop. Lose the Lawyers and Accountants running these estates and bring in the Fans and Musicians.

I got plenty good loving for ya baby
