If Kanye is so honest and prolific...

... why doesn't he rap about his insecurity about his weight and liposuction? Maybe show kids that the best way to get self esteem is to be able to afford to have a doctor apply it...? He talks all street and knowledge, but he lives in a mansion with the reality TV show family... Scandalous times.

I hate that he dropped such a really good project.

F Kanye. He killed what little expectation I had with his little marketing campaign for this album, specifically the "Slavery was a 400 year choice" line.

I refuse to support this dude after that nonsense.

red-hot-irony alert: the prince.org community is clocking an artist for being self-indulgent, without singles, too emotional, living in a mansion far away from the streets, and being insensitive about US slavery... eek

Next he'll wear assless pants, and we'll burn his albums.

If Kanye was a talented musician, maybe you'd be right mintchip.

.

Or they'll all start exposing their ghostwriters/ghostproducers to demonstrate just how fake their community really is.

The difference is that Prince never asserted that 400 years of slavery was a choice or tried sound deep and introspective by clumsily saying things that have been said better by others already or simply saying straight up stupid things in an attempt to sound like a visionary and instead looking like a pseudo-intellectual.

Prince's little rebellion against the powers at WB was him trying to make a point and stick it to the man. You can't convince me that Kanye's delusional stint was anything more than a PR stunt for his upcoming album; one that was completely unnecessary.

Cant expect anything less from the org's henchmen. The album is pretty good.

Kanye been self-indulgent since College Dropout so why you decising listenin now?
Anyway, the album gets a fair 8/10. It is just enough to make fans happy and less enough to not be overbearing. There are some really good moments especially the anthemic Ghost Town where he lets John legend, 070 and Ty Dolla basically take over. Its the kind of spacey weird production we are used to from Kanye especially from the Twisted Fantasy era. "I Thought About Killing You" is cringy...talking about suicide and his mothers doctor. "Yikes" did nothing for me, until he start talking about your girlfrind would drop everything to be with him lol falloff
There is a really honest track about Kim called "Wouldnt Leave Me" discussing her sticking by him throught him actng out and embarassing her. It's what we needed to hear from him. There is no distinguished single here, but "No Mistakes" with Carlie Wilson is nice and radio friendly enough to please the causal listener ...and Charlie fans.

I don't know. Kanye seems like a heavy-hitter to me. Different skill set from an instrument playing musician, for sure, but when I hear tracks like Ultralight Beam, or No More Parties in LA, I feel shock - chills, sometimes - that some dude is expressing himself this way, and making this art. Frequently stunning - collaborations and all. And living through Prince - in particular from 1992 - 2003 - taught me to ignore pretensions, stupidities, stunts, and straight up bullshit. Focus on the art. Nothing sounds like this.

I wish I could escape all of those notions. I liked 2016's Life Of Pablo. This EP did not grab me by the p****.

I stopped listening after Late Registration. He stopped being interesting and became frivolous pop crap. Maybe that backpack he stopped wearing had all his integrity in it.

What was so pop about Yeezus, 808s or Pablo? Those were very left field. 808s basically created emo rap

Stopped paying this idiot any attention after he barged on stage like a spoilt ten year old and butted in on Taylor Swift's award speech, just because he has a crush on Beyonce. I can't abide people with no manners.

Agree. There is something special in the way he produces. Like a conductor at times the way he constructs his choruses, features and instruments. First time I really noticed this was on "We Major"...just epic...like superhero music the way it climaxes.

I have to disagree, tracks 2-7 is pretty good

Ok as for the honest thread, he did rap about his recent struggles even the funny part on his Yikes song "That's my bipolar shit, what ninja. It's not a disability, it's my super power, i'm a super hero haaaaaaaa" biggrin

But he did rap about his bipolar mental disability, being fat and on pills, he even rap a line "Prince and MJ tried to warn me" when rapping about his pain killers addiction.

I believe a lot of people take Gemini's such as Andre 3000, 2Pac, Prince, Kanye, and etc at face value when these people have split personalities that can change at any moment. The same why you all feel about Kanye being crazy and a pathetic human is the same way folks felt about Prince after Purple Rain.

As for the slavery remark he said, people need to watch the interview with the black lady that was there before he said that line. Wrong as it is, I believe he was too hyped from listening to her and then spoke way out of term. To clarify and fix what he was trying to say is, for the past few years the black community have been living under the slave morality state of mind that only the white americans can save us. Why wait for a hand out when in the past 10 years we have the money and talent to build and help ourselves. Which is what he should have said even though it would've been hypocritical on his part for not supporting black own businesses. All of our so called top black celebrities don't really support black businesses but they promote Target, Wal-Mart, Bank of America, Walt Disney, and other stores and businesses that don't care for us but want our money. Even Michael Jackson and Prince supported white banks and businesses over help their own.

So if we are going to be fair and go down this lane of throwing Kanye under bus then you all need to stop supporting ALL ENTERTAINERS. Because truth be told, every entertainer has and will say racial things you agree to or strongly disagree to. If you don't like Kanye music, fine. But if you're going to say you don't like him for stuff he say and don't really mean the way it comes out then you all don't really support Prince or 2pac.

The gemini zodiac people have split personalities meaning they will say phuck the world one moment and then say heal the world the next moment and then say hell with everybody it's all about ME. Donald Trump for example, gemini, that's why lying and starting verbal fights is nothing to him. If you all think what kanye said is off the chain then come listen to my dad and grandfather who are both gemini's.

FYI: I do agree with Kanye and Jim Brown on hollywood and other movie studious need to stop making slave movies and tv shows. That's really the reason we still getting racial tension. This was brought up in the 80's about the roles black people have in films that's very degrading only for hip hop and ALL ROCK music to degrade us especially women even further but you support those acts and complain about Kanye and scream how woke you are. If you're so woke then stop fighting people that's doing their best to help and teach & show the person how to help. But the only thing we all do is complain with no positive solutions in mind because it's almost like we live to work and be depressed whether than we work to live and create opportunities. If we are all real and step out of our fantasy bubbles for a minute you will admit that we as people have truly lost hope and faith in humanity.

EVERYBODY WANTS WHAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE AND THAT'S LOVE, COMPASSION, MERCY, FORGIVENESS. Until we start doing that for one another we will continue dividing and teaching the youth to divide from each other based on gender, skin color, culture, and be opportunist, abusers, users, false accusers, and know it all type of people.

I'm glad to know you don't like hip hop, which is fine. Trust taylor would take that moment over being at the Source Awards and getting butted. And you would've been like the cops at the source awards, glad she ain't get her ass whooped.

You all kill me with being mad at Kanye for the same antics Prince used to pull. Beyonce is his friend and he felt she was being disrespected. Sorry it had nothing to do with Taylor or trying to be disrespectful or having a crush on Beyonce. Prince was rarely nice to people and fans, hell he tried to sue this board. If that's not a person with no manners and gratefulness then I don't know. Prince even showed up extremely late to concerts or just cancelled. Lets be fair and stop this judging, if we going this road then all entertainers need to be held in that same light.

And most of you all outside of DaveT, don't even listen to hip hop much from 1998 to Present. If you don't like his album cool, but lets not turn this into a bash Kanye thread.

Love me some hip-hop, that's got nothing to do with it ... I just don't like rude people, and if I don't like the person it turns me off their music, simple as that. Same reason I don't give Chris Brown the time of day, same reason I don't listen to U2 anymore, etc, etc. I don't find it easy to look past people's shady behaviour just because they put together some catchy music. And yes, at times, I've lumped Prince in with that.
