Lakeside has always been one of my favorite funk bands.I'm thrilled that their catalog is being remastered/reissued.What are your favorite Lakeside songs and albums?

"It's All The Way Live" by Lakeside (1978)

Frankly, I have always preferred their ballads to the dance material. Don't get me wrong, they can sho' nuff bring the funk, but there are several first-rate romantic songs in the catalog worth further exploration.

These are a few of my favorites:

After their hugely successful Fantastic Voyage album in 1980,a new Lakeside album called Keep On Movin' Straight Ahead appeared in record stores in 1981....but was it really a "new" album? Apparently,this is an album of "leftovers" released from the vault as Solar Records changed distribution from RCA to Elektra (labelmates Shalamar and The Whispers also released "leftover vault material" albums in 1981).It's actually not a terrible album,although you can tell why these songs weren't released before.Most of them are mediocre.

There Beatles cover was my shit (still is). Im mad All The Way Live never gets played but that damned Fantastic Voyage is played like its their only song.

That's why I dislike many of these "old school classic jams" stations they act like these artists/bands only had one big hit single,lol.

Right. I blame Coolio for the lakeside thing too though. And if anything, the old school stations should be the ones who post the 'other' songs from the acts. I cant hear Brick House ever again because of this.

One of the cool things about Lakeside is that they were a very "visual" band.Each album had a different theme and look.Their 1984 'Outrageous' video is a perfect example.....

yeah,they do have alot of great slow jams."Real Love" is one of their best

Interestingly,their very first single ("If I Didn't Have You") was a ballad.It's from their debut album on ABC Records,released in early 1977.A very nice song that was unfortunately overlooked.

One thing I've always wondered about is,why didn't their 1979 album Rough Riders become a bigger hit? Song for song,it's probably their strongest,most consistent album.And it follows the huge success they had in 1978 with the Shot Of Love album and its massive hit single "It's All The Way Live".It contains a bunch of great jams such as "From 9:00 Until","Pull My String" (released as the first single) and "If You Like Our Music".My guess is that,so much was going on in 1979 (disco was at its peak) that it simply got lost in the shuffle,unfortunately.

I know what you guys mean but at least in my area the old school station does play All The Way Live. When it comes to ConFunkShun it's Love's Train or Ffun and that's it.

I like to listen to different radio stations from different cities.I go to iHeart alot for that purpose.It's fun to see how what type of stations are in different areas.Right now,I'm really impressed with Atlanta's radio stations.

I always said as to how From 9:00 Until, personally, was somewhat of a jamful prelude to that of their signature Fantastic Voyage. ROUGH RIDERS should've been a bonafied gold seller imo.

I agree,this album should have been really big.I don't know why the two singles ("Pull My String" and "From 9:00 Until") didn't really catch on with the public.The latter is a truly funky party jam.
