Billboard Music Awards 2018

So many great moments. Christina and Demi’s performance was beautiful. Both of Shawn Mendes’ performances were great. I loved the appearance from the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas HS’s choir.
.
I really liked Janet’s performance although it I thought she was much better when I saw her live in November 2011. What I loved most was her acceptance speech about women’s empowerment and the importance of God...very profound.
.
Salt-N-Pepa’s performance was OFF THE CHAIN!!! My favorite performance of the night. Shoop...Let’s Talk About Sex...Push It...Whatta Man with En Vogue. When Push It came on, I got up and started dancing in my living room...danced for the rest of the performance. Best female rappers of all time!

The best performances were:

Khalil(both times)
Shawn Mendez (both times)
Christina and Demi
Salt n Pepa
Most of the other performances were pretty good, also.

However,I was surprised at how underwhelming Janet’s performance was. There was nothing exciting about it. I expected so much more and was very disappointed.

Great show! Some of my favorite performances were: Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Salt N Pepa w/ En Vouge. And Kelly Clarkson did a great job hosting the show, she sang too!

I saw Salt N Pepa's performance and it was cute, Pep looked and sounded amazing as usual. Interesting to note in 2018 that Dawn Robinson is obsolete and completely disregarded on YouTube as "why did Kelly Clarkson come out at the end?" instead of saying "how is En Vogue there but we can't hear them but we can hear a familiar commanding vocal?"
.
The jokester in me came up with several replacements for the removed line like "you so crazy, the doctor said I can't have any more babies" to "you so crazy, but I'm a church going lady".
.
I liked Janet's speech, I'm excited to see her at Panorama this summer, she seemed looser and more candid in both her performance and speech then she has been in a while but also very graceful and kind of regal. It was a bit disappointing that she didn't have a band, I do wish the mic was higher on her vocals on Throb and that they had background singers or something instead of the 90s vocal. It was a great performance though, she had that room. That house beat is still funky now and similar to sounds provided by newer acts like Disclosure and Kaytranada. I would love to hear her work with both of those acts for a new album. I don't get why certain performers choose to recreate the album versions of songs over and over versus jamming on them and taking them thru time with them via new versions.

I was a bit disappointed, but I attribute the disappointment to comparing her performance on TV to seeing her live. Overall, I thought it was a very good performance overall. However, I did not like the choice of Throb because Throb is not one of her better-known songs. Nasty was a great choice. However, I feel that she could have chosen If, Together Again, Doesn’t Really Matter, All for You, or an upbeat song from Rhythm Nation instead of Throb. Also, there were a lot of dancers, sometimes too many, and a couple of the dancers danced better than Janet.

Another lame music award show.

Salt 'n' Pepa was the only highlight for me.
