Let me shut my mouf til Tuesday though. I know the drill. It may be legit. But it may also be the ultimate dangling carrot of all time, complete with cover and all. After all, they revealed the cover of Funkadelic's supposed Last Time Zone LP way back in 99 too.

Medicaid Fraud Dogg, the first new album by Parliament in 38 years, will be released digitally on May 22. No word yet on a physical release. Shake The Gate was released on cd about three months after the digital.

How much would I give for a copy of that one! This seems pretty legit since it's been posted on all of George's social networking pages.

phunkdaddy said: Yeah well, if the show lasts for three hours, that's not so bad... Better than Sly Stone being on stage for barely twenty minutes in a one hour show... But, wtf, I saw Sly Stone live...

I saw George last fall and he came on right after the opening band performed (headed by his Grandson). He performed "I'm Gonna Make U Sick" and was pretty much there the rest of the three hours although he would sit in a chair on stage occasionally to give the spotlight to others. But at the end George seemed re-energized, especially after he smoked an audience member's vaporizer. lol

I was quite sad when I heard that George would be retiring from performing, but it’s cool to see the younger members taking up the mantle. They put on a great show:

nod yeah this is what George said a few months ago.....

I have a few collaborators with me, I’ve worked with a lot of old members of the band, like Junie Morrison, who did One Nation and Knee Deep with me. Sly Stone is on there, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee [Ellis], of course, the Horny Horns. We’re pretty much closing Medicaid Fraud Dogg down, now, because we got too many tracks already.”

It'll be good to hear Sly and Junie, no matter if Sly's skills aren't what they used to be. Sly seems to have gone back to his reclsive ways since the court ruling in his favor. The official documentary will hopefully be great, too.

"Some rap" is okay, but at the end of the day, we're talking funk, not rap. I stopped buying Bootsy albums because when I looked at the track lists, every song was "featuring DJ this or MC so and so"...

I feel the same way. This is one reason why I didn't completely enjoy Shake The Gate. There was way too much rapping and hip-hop beats.I had to make my own tracklist, focusing mainly on the tunes that didn't have raps on them smile I hope that this new album doesn't go overboard with the raps.

Sly's vocal ability is the only problem, unfortunately, a huge problem. He can still write a great song.

cool Hi SoulAlive - what's it like? Is the finished version of the track that I posted above on it? I think it's George's step-daughter leading that track, Brandi/Nakid87.

After one listen,I would say that the album is very good. The tracks that I enjoy the most are the ones that stay true to the P-Funk sound ("Medicated Creep","Oil Jones","All In","3-69").These songs are extremely funky, outrageous and wild....exactly what you would expect from Parliament! There are some tracks with alot of rapping confused there a few nice slower tracks. The track you posted above, what it is called? I don't think it's on the album.I'll have to listen again.

Thanks SoulAlive - I only know it from that footage that George uploaded, and it didn’t have a name at that point. It’s been rolling around in my head ever since though – sounds like vintage P-Funk to me and I was really hoping that it would make it onto the album. "When she left she left with the right to be wrong" - classic Clinton word-play, killer bassline. The fact that I’ve developed a minor crush on Brandi has absolutely nothing to do with it you understand. wink

I’m also looking forward to hearing Junie’s contribution – it was probably one of the last things that he worked on before he passed.
