I basically skipped over Bionic but I liked Lotus. I heard a song from it the other day and didn't know what album it was on, so I know it has been ages. She really needed to put something new out.

You Lost Me is great, though.

Her American tour was announced today. I say that because there is only one Canadian date in Ontario and it isn't the capital of anything. lol

What a ghastly track, sounds like they recorded it while she was on the treadmill and a computer shat it out with prune juice. Akina Nakamori was in my recommendeds to I listened to that instead.

music I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. music

I love Christina. The first concert I attended was her concert in Seattle, at Key Arena, on October 19, 2000. I was a 9th grader. Soul Decision opened for her. I will never forget the date of that concert.

.

For whatever reason, Christina was popular from 1999 to 2006, but has not maintained that popularity musically since that time. She lost me in the mid-2000s. I have her first album, her Christmas album, Stripped, and Back to Basics.

.

She has a family, and she's branced out into TV and film. She bombed her performance of The Star-Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl in 2011 because she didn't know all of the lyrics. Her last couple of albums have not generated successful singles. While she does have some ability as a songwriter, she is not much of an instrumentalist, as far as I know. In other words, she's dependent on having a good supporting cast around her to help her with songwriting, production, instrumentation.

.

Christina fits best into the mold of a Whitney and Mariah in that the primary talent she has is as a vocalist. (Her contemporary, Britney, is much more Janet Jackson and Madonna with her high-level dancing skills and flashy concerts.) The problem with relying primarily upon her immense vocal talent is that she has to pay a lot of people to work with her. Therefore, her albums cost a lot of money to make and they have to sell really well in order for them to be profitable. She has to have the right producers, songwriters, instrumentalists, etc. Unlike Prince, she can't just show up with a guitar, piano, and drums and perform on short notice because she needs a band and other people to help her. Whitney had a string of commercially successful albums or soundtracks between 1985 and 1998. She had a great formula and she had Clive Davis. Once her voice deteriorated in the early 2000s, her career went on the decline.

.

Christina's voice needs to be in really good shape and new music will have to re-connect her with her core fan base, which is in their late 20s to late 30s at this time, if she is to have a chance at a comeback.

I have to say that she is much more attractive without all the makeup. Her new look is great. Demi Lovato is another one who looks best with as little make-up as possible

“I don’t need your little money / I can put you under something,” she sings. “Stop talking, we can get along / We can Marvin Gaye and get it on / Where you want to be, I’ve been before / Shh, say no more.”

Yet another catchy track from Liberation, which to me signals a return to form.

It's really solid. It has a couple tunes you can move your hips to, but overall I find it a nice album to just sit down and listen to. She really brings the raw vocals on much of this project, very little of that autotune like on Bionic. I've had 'Like I Do' on repeat like crazy and I am also particularly fond of 'Pipe' (that one just oozes 90s R&B throwback).

"Like I do" is fantastic. Don't like much of the other stuff, but this track. The flute is very original. Works well.

If Like I Do is the best track I'm going to skip this collection. Maybe if I was 14 I would like it but those days are long gone. Not the music for me.

So 'Pipe' features Formula One world champ Lewis Hamilton doing a verse. That's why she was at an F1 race this year. lol
