*NSYNC [US] 20th Anniversary Thread

Today, in honor of them recieving their star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, I'm spotlight the U.S. debut album of *NSYNC. Now I'm honestly not a true fan like others are, but there were a few songs I liked by them. No bashing of any of the members of the group. Let's celebrate the 20th anniversary of this album, featuring Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass and (of course) Justin Timberlake.

People can piss on a boyband all they wish, but everyone loves a great pop song. "Girlfriend" is as much a pop song as "Raspberry Beret". For me, *NSYNC always had the best singles. BSB was driven into the ground, but they always felt sorta A- or B+ grade.

BSB never really had a breakout star, although most of them tried some sort of solo gig. NKOTB had Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre, while Donnie was successful in acting. But with NSYNC when they really started writing and letting JC & JT put pen to paper is when they had some of their best songs; those being on Celebrity with one of them (at least) co-writing & producing 10 of the 13 tracks.

I do have respect for BSB & *NSYNC having to deal with the vulture that was Lou Pearlman. Johnny Wright made them both superstars which, in that day, wasn't necessarily easy. Boy bands were a dime a dozen, so to rise above the froth was a task.

And I still have *NSYNC bobbleheads on the TV hutch.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This album was part of the soundtrack to my teenage years. I still love this album and still love *NSYNC!

One of my favourite *NSYNC songs is "Do Your Thing".

.

Waiting, for your piece of the pie
To drop out of the sky(gotta go get it)
Hesitating, for somebody else
To run and pass you by(never get your time)
.
There ain't no excuse for losing your feet
Drowning in your defeat, on this road of life
There ain't no excuse for coming up short, the ball is in your court
So reach up and touch the sky
.
Are you doing your thing and doing it well
Are they looking at you hating singing oh
Are you doing your thing and doing it good
Do your thing thing (oh), do your thing thing (oh)
.
Keeping yourself from taking
On your perfect dream(you had to be open)
And being something
Somewhere that you read in a magazine(but you never let you shine)
.
There ain't no excuse for losing your feet
Drowning in your defeat, on this road of life
There ain't no excuse for coming up short, the ball is in your court
So reach up and touch the sky
.
Are you doing your thing, well
Are you letting your dreams, come alive
Are you doing your thing, good
Believe can nobody do it better than you, believe can nobody do it better than you
.
Gotta walk, gotta break, gotta call, gotta take, everything that I bring, never do fall
Gotta hump, gotta bump, never sit on a stump, never quit on a swell of a lump
If you really want it bad
You can't ever drag your feet to the beat of the sound of defeat
Even if you got heat
Whoa
Never take your mad off to defeat, so
.
There ain't no excuse for losing your feet
Drowning in your defeat, on this road of life
There ain't no excuse for coming up short, the ball is in your court
So reach up and touch the sky
.
Are you doing your thing and doing it well
Are they looking at you hating singing oh
Are you doing your thing and doing it good
Do your thing thing (oh), do your thing thing (oh)
.
Are you doing your thing and doing it well
Are they looking at you hating singing oh
Are you doing your thing and doing it good
Do your thing thing (oh), do your thing thing (oh)
.
Are you doing your thing and doing it well
Are they looking at you hating singing oh
Are you doing your thing and doing it good
Do your thing thing (oh), do your thing thing (oh)
.
Do your thing, do your thing, baby
Do your thing, All them looking at ya, All them looking at ya
(Believe can nobody do it better than you, believe can nobody do it better than you)
Do your thing, oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah
(Believe can nobody do it better than you, believe can nobody do it better than you)
Oh
Do your thing [Repeat: x4]
