Best albums of 2018, so far?

Hi,

I got an Itunes giftcard earlier this week. I've been browsing the Itunes store for two days now but nothing is piquing my interest. I would like to find some new music, but I guess I'm not with it anymore...

so here's to hoping you guys can give me some inspiration. What are your best albums released so far in 2018?

thx

ps: sorry if a simmilar thread already exists i didn't find it.

It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I dunno, but I am enjoying the hell out of Sananda Maitreya's Prometheus and Pandora and Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Sex and Food right now.

I'm looking forward to grabbing some more jazz cuts this year, too.

I've only bought two albums this year: Me'Shell Ndegeocello's Ventriloquism and Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer. Haven't listened to DC yet.

Kacey Musgraves (Golden Hour)- country alt/pop

Brandi Carlile (By The Way I Forgive You) - folk rock

Camila Cabello - Camila boxed I know, but it sure is catchy the way pop is supposed to be but rarely is these days.

Promethus and Pandora has some great stuff on it but it's too long with to many alternative anf instrumental versions of songs.

I condensed it down to 21 tracks and it rivals Wildcard.

I look at P&P as epic good, in the long haul. Takes you on a trip--"this is not music, this is a trip" kind of deal. I like the storytelling and the songs are all cool to me!

I forgot, I've bought three albums this year.

The third is The Bad Plus', Never Stop II, which is a real joy.

1. Sunflower Bean - Twentytwo In Blue (70s Fleetwood Mac)

XL Middleton - G-Funk Vibes Vol 2
Top quality G-Funk. I don't even like rap music all that much but this is funky as hell.
Also, do yourself a favour and check out XL Middleton's last album, 'Things Are Happening'. Rick James-type funk. Much better than anything you'll hear on the charts.

Janelle Monae - Dirty Computer

No explanation necessary for that one.

For electronic music I'll nominate the new album Impossible Star by Meat Beat Manifesto.

Subversive, grooving, slippery funk.
