She isn't bad as a rapper, but I can't take a whole album of plastic synthy beats. Any real schitt on there?

*paging MickyDolenz to remind me Thomas Dolby produced Whodini with nothing but electronic stuff, and further electro comparisons*

LOL

I know on the majority of Whodini's classic hits Larry Smith was puttin the nasty on it

with that bass geetar. I'm guessing Thomas done some work on their debut album with

Haunted House of Rock.

As for Cardi B I thought Bodak Yellow was mad weak. Money Bag sounds better but it also pretty

much sounds like it's straight from Nikki Minaj's factory. I'm waiting on Mariah Carey to dial her

up any minute now for a collaboration. lol

I wondered what was all the fuss about this "artist", so I gave Bodak Yellow a listen. I was done after 30 seconds.

Not true. Both Nicki and Azalea received criticism here for their music. I don't even know who Rapsody is. I've already basically stated that Cardi B seems to be Nicki Minaj 2.0

Many of the people on this site don't like any acts that debuted after 1975 except D'Angelo & Mint Condition. Especially if they're popular with the mainstream. They're music snobs who talk about so-called "real music by real musicians". lol I recall someone here started a thread titled "Bryan Adams sucks". Then there's the constant trashing of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Elvis Presley, Madonna, etc. that goes on here. There a thread right now about the biggest selling albums where there's comments wondering how Metallica, Eagles, & Eminem have sold so much. It's interesting that the threads about the disliked acts usually get way more comments and views than the ones about the "real music" performers that goes down the tubes quickly. So that says to me that those "real musician" acts are not popular here either and people would rather talk about the mainstream popular ones, even if it's to put it down. There's no particular reason to start a "Cardi B's entire album stinks" thread if the OP did not want to discuss her. That's giving Cardi even more publicity.

For 65 years straight, the #1 genre in music, selling wise, was rock n' roll worldwide. Last year (2017) in June, it got de-crowned by hip hop. Hip hop is the #1 genre. It's hip hop - rock - country - pop or pop - country. ~ Pras

100% facts. Several threads and posts about somebody they don't like...but Nicki has been running the rap game for the last 10 years not a comment or post the first. Hypocrites. Obviously they care enough to wonder about her and go listen to the albums. Its like..well if she is that important why yall dont go and listen to Rapsody and Azelia if you are so "in the loop" about female rap artists. Give me a break org.

There was a poster theAudience who made threads about non-mainstream artists, but got little response. But make a Beyoncé thread and there's the same people over & over talking about her buying awards and she is not really popular at all, but pays the media to say she is popular. lol There's threads here about Robin Thicke & Bruno Mars copying Marvin Gaye or somebody. But Jam & Lewis has used Marvin's sound on some songs, and closer to it than Blurred Lines. Bruno Mars & Joss Stone are put down for using old sounds but there was a thread about Amalia Townsend who was praised for doing the same thing and so are Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings/Amy Winehouse/Jamiroquai.

You're quite the dumb ass if you think people on this site don't listen to artists
after 1990 which a lot of people do post here. I certainly do but sorry if some of us don't fit the criteria for posting threads you require. So you can keep your dry snark to yourself. Most of us aren't going through a middle age crisis like you and pretend to like current artists to prove shit. I'm surprised you didn't give us your long boring ass speech about the blues genre origins in 1933. You're preaching to the choir here dude. I don't even respond to Beyoncé threads because I know there will be the typical threads about her music. I just don't care because I know her music does nothing for me. I actually like her better as an actress. When you decide to come for me do your research before you speak out your ass.

I said many people, not everybody. Anyway that was a joke. But whenever threre's a thread about a mainstream popular act, there's a bunch of negative comments, often by the same people like Vainandy with Whitney Houston. The other threads about non-mainstream newer acts don't get the same amount of responses or views. So what I said isn't really wrong. People here tend to be negative to whatever is popular today, not whoever was around in the 1990s. Name one act who is currently on Top 40 radio and get top 10 hits or sells/streams a lot now who doesn't get several people here saying they're not any good whether it is Adele, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, or Taylor Swift. Maybe Kendrick Lamar, but that's about it. Whenever someone makes a thread about someone who sucks, it's more than likely someone who is popular or just a general "today's music sucks" it's about chart music and gets radio airplay, not new acts who are not mainstream like Kamasi Washington.

I misunderstood some of your post. I was eating breakfast before heading to work
and trying to shake off the rust. I initially skimmed through the post and It appeared to be an attack more so than a joke when I made a simple response to Paisley's post. My apologies for being abrasive.
I wanted to take a stand for some of us who do actually listen to more than PFunk
and Lakeside and don't have a frozen mind circa 1983 where Rick James and Prince
were parading female groups around with lingerie. I see you talk about the Audience whom you say used to post about some artists under the radar that gets little response. Graycap has often done threads about artists like Frank McCombs, Conya Doss, and Ursus Minor to little response. If it wasn't for Gray I wouldn't have known anything about McCombs. SoulAlive has made threads about some good artists whom aren't popular. Ive started threads in the past about Bad Rabbits, Foreign Exchange, Robert Randolph, and Kindred The Family Soul to little response.
Nothing new. I also like Vivian Green. I also listen to jazz which I very rarely talk about here. Sometimes it's not enough time in the workday for everyone to post threads. Hell most of the time now I fall asleep at the computer by 10:00 surfing the Internet. As far as musicians and real music responses go, you have an older Orger audience whom most are Prince fans and artists of that era so we have an appreciation for musicianship especially if you've seen those artists live. Anything wrong with that? You have a younger Orger audience in their 20's and 30's whom have a ear for today's pop artists. Some are tolerable. Some of them are not. When it's some of today's artists whom has music intolerable to the ears and its crammed down your throat you're gonna get their music sucks responses. That's the way it is. Nothing personal. Some popular sports athletes get hate too for various reasons. Try being LeBron James or Tom Brady. Popular music artists aren't immune to it either. It's just par for the course.

U can say that again. Jam and Lewis sampled HEAVY in the New Jack Swing days.
If it was not for the Org I would not have known Amalia. Unfortunatley she has not released anything in several years. She need to come on now. That was great track. Album was nice too. I love Winehouse and Sharon Jones. Thanks to the org I know them as well.

Have you been exposed to any part of social media outside of Prince.org? lol

Facebook, Yahoo, Sports groups or anything discussing politics is far worse than

Prince.org. If you feel Prince.org is negative then definitely stay off other Social Media.

Everyone is gonna have an opinion about an artist no matter the artist but yeah the more

popular an artist it definitely opens up the possibility for negative feedback. Some artists

bring it on themselves.

Pretty sure that Geto Boys, Snoop Dogg, NWA, Ice-T, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, 2pac, etc. and movies like Boyz In The Hood and New Jack City did that over 20 years ago. lol Even Kris Kross had a few songs about gang life and their 1st album was huge in the early 1990s. You can even count Michael Jackson with the Beat It, Bad, & The Way You Make Me Feel videos in the 1980s and Smooth Criminal had a mafia style speakeasy club and a drug dealer played by Joe Pesci. Mike was way bigger at the time than Cardi B is now.
