Chaka Khan - Tight Fit

I've always found Chaka's voice to be extremely sexy and she has a lot of songs under her belt that are seductive, but I think this is one of her most seductive songs. I love the contrast between her voice and the male singer.

The male singer on the record is her brother, Mark Stevens. They've worked together a lot. They put out a single in 2016 called "House of Love" that was overlooked by many. But I digress. Chaka once said how Arif Mardin would speed up Mark's voice and he'd sounded like her. And when he slowed down tape of Chaka she sounded like Mark. I'm convinced Arif did quite a bit manupulpation and blending of their voices together. Anyhoo..."Tight Fit" was the second single, if I'm not mistaken, from 'Destiny'. There was no music video released and I never heard it on the radio but she did perform it on Solid Gold and The Late Show with Joan Rivers.

Didn't she also made a duet with him in the "Whatcha Gonna Do For Me" album? I remember reading his name in the credits of most of her early solo albums. Thank you for the heads up, just the other day I was listening to "Soul Talkin'" and wondered whether that was Bobby McFerrin scatting or her, as there were vocal distortion/manipulation there too I think.

Yeah its a shame. Such a great song, Brenda Russell had the potential of being a household composer, idk what happened.

"Tight Fit" should have been the first single from "Destiny". "Love Of A Lifetime" was an okay song but not a good choice for a first single. It sounded horrible live and I couldn't understand half the lyrics. "Tight Fit", however, sounded great on wax and live. Nice, clear vocal. Outstanding remixed version received a lot of air time. Check out her live performance on Late Night With Joan Rivers on youtube. Excellent!

The song received a lot of airplay here in Michigan. But, by the time "Destiny" was released and the first single came and went, Warner Brothers had already decided they were done promoting her.
