Ruben Studdard Releases Vandross Tribute Album

I knew this was bound to happen sooner or later. Just didnt' think it would take this long. Poor Ruben. I don't know what happened. After his first album fresh off American Idol, his albums went nowhere. Everyone was dubbing him the next Luther but it just didnt happen. His last album was also covers produced by David Foster which was excellent but fell on deaf ears. Don't know why he never caught on, even on Urban AC formats.

he never caught on because he's not marketable as an artist/entertainer... he has little to no commercial appeal... its not enough to just be be a good singer anymore...

I always thought he would do well in the gospel market. I wonder how his restaurant chain worked out...

The world is done...
But you don't have to be.
Darkness gathers around the light...
Hold on, hold on...
There is a Light--don't let it go out!

It's a bloody shame. There are probably a lot of young Luthers out there wanting to get signed or their music heard but no one's interested because they are considered not commerical enough, lacking the entire package. sad

Isn't Johnny Gill kinda like the next generation of Luther, although he's an artist in his own right...

American Idol didn't do well at keeping rock stars on the charts.
