ive also tried to argue against that nonsense about P not being as good a guitar player when he was young... he was killin' it from day 1... "If You See Me" and "Just Another Sucker" by 94 East..."Im Yours" and "My Love Is Forever" on For You...then "Bambi" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad" on Prince...i dont see where later in his career there was this "improvement" in his guitar playing skill...

Exactly! Prince was a bad(as in good) guitar player from the get go. I always liked the clarity of his early guitar playing(I'm sure production had something to do with it). You could pretty clearly hear the notes that he played. Maybe because of distortion or effects(or maybe its just a decline in my hearing), some of his later playing didn't sound as clear as some of his earlier stuff. Also, i guess i would probably say that as Prince got older, his rhythm playing probably got better. In terms of solos though, i still think the ones he did on Bambi and Why You Wanna, easily are some of the best that he ever did. And I'm Yours is bad ass, period.

As far as the shows in question? Damn, i gotta hear them.

I would love to know what gear P and Dez used on that tour..I remember seeing photos of Fender (not Hohner) Teles, Marshall heads and cabs and some spare no name cabs. There were some stomp boxes on the ground too, but the brands couldn't be seen.

Yes, but he had it covered in leopard skin and had one of the lower horns cut off.
