I'm actually surprised that I don't have more BarKays music in my collection.Out of these four albums,I only have one ('Propositions') on vinyl. Thanks to this set,I will now have more of their music.1981's Nightcruising is absolutely essential....easily their strongest album.

I love the band. I'm mostly into the 70's stuff even though they hit a damn good stride into the 80's. They could bring the heavy groove and scortch a ballad as well.

That's a nice set. I have all 4 of those on vinyl and Propositions and Nightcruising on CD.

I don't think Dangerous had been previously released on cd. Side 1 of As One is hot as fire but

cools down on Side 2 which is the spiritual side of the album.

It's hard to argue that because I love Flying High On Your Love and Injoy as well

the only disappointing thing about this set is that it doesn't include bonus tracks. The 12" version of "She Talks To Me With Her Body" is absolutely explosive and would have made a fine addition to the set.

Yes he was on that heavy androgynous tip and was toying with the folks on "Loose Talk". He was just clowning with it. I love "You Made A Change In My Life" and have it in my sweat mix/workout mix. That jam gets me off airtime I hear it.

If you read the book you will find that it wasn't Larry who was gay but someone else closely

associated with him who was and encouraged Larry to dress androgynous.

You Made A Change In My Life is some of the best synth work I've ever heard.

I always struggled trying to figure if Larry sung lead on that song with a deeper vocal. I know Sherman Guy sung lead on some of their tunes like Running In And Out Of My Life, Open Your Heart, and Can't Believe You're Leaving Me.

nod one of the best things about the Propositions album is the amazing synth work throughout. It really stands out and sets those tracks on fire! "Tripping Out" is another favorite of mine.

Oh my. Now I really can't wait to dive into the book. I have it on order at the library. Leaving Me is one of their best in my opinion. I'm doing some basement work and a Spotify BarKays mix is in order.

I was checking out the BarKays albums on Spotify.Such a shame that they don't have all of the 80s albums.

IKR. It's weird how they don't have all the discography of ConFunkShun or the Barkays but have all the discography of a lesser known band like Mass Production
but I'm okay with it because MP work is hard to find on cd.

No way? A full album? Off and on I've been looking for an Album from them, for ages. I got to really check out spotify. I've sparingly been on there.

Yep,their entire 6-song album is there.I love the tracks “If I Gave You A Party” and K-I-S-S-I-N-G”....it’s an album that seems heavily influenced by Prince!

Whoa. Thanks for the info! I kid you not, just about two weeks ago i was on a certain website, looking for some Sexual Harassment. I thought i came close with this one band, but this band is named Human Sexual Response.

Man, besides the group Dreamboy, I've been itching to get hold of some Sexual Harassment...

Oh, and it goes without saying. Larry Dodson is a legend !

Thanks again SoulAlive...

I just noticed,it's on iTunes too biggrin but it contains several bonus tracks that I never heard before.I have the original vinyl album from 1983 and there are only 6 tracks on it.

Just finished Larry's book. Must read for any fan of the band. Read it in about a day. Page turner I could not put it down. Some holes in the story but told me a lot of what I needed to know about the whole BarKays situation.
