New Barry White Reissue Campaign

9ZcVUxl.jpg?1

02/2018

The 45th anniversary of late soul legend Barry White's first release on the 20th Century Records label will be celebrated this year with a series of catalog releases and reissues.

The initiative begins on April 13 with the release of several hits compilations, including the three-CD box set The Complete 20th Century Records Singles (1973-1979) and a one-CD collection titled Love's Theme: The Best of the 20th Century Records Singles.

The three-disc retrospective features 46 tracks, while the single-disc Love's Theme album boasts 21 tracks. A two-LP vinyl edition of the Love's Theme compilation also will be available. It features one bonus track -- the 1975 Love Unlimited Orchestra hit "Satin Soul."

Arriving on April 20 is The 20th Century Records Singles (1973-1975) vinyl box set, which features 10 seven-inch vinyl discs recreating White's single releases from his mid-'70s heyday.

Each disc is housed in a replica sleeve, and the collection comes packaged with a four-page illustrated book.

Future White reissues will include CD and vinyl LP box sets featuring Barry's full albums, as well as compilations and album box sets focusing on The Love Unlimited Orchestra and the female vocal group Love Unlimited, which White formed.

I believe so. Looking at its releases, it's mostly Barry White and Love Unlimited Orchestra records.

I'm going to wait for the expanded (fingers crossed), remastered reissues of his full albums. I already have most of the recordings featured on the box set.

Happily excited! We were raised on his music. biggrin I still listent to him often. Looking back I can't beleive how young Barry White was making this "grown man" music and how young my Dad was listening to it! Starting in his late 20's/early 30's. Very serious. Very mature. Seriously mature and romantic and respectful

I would've included "Love Serenade" pts 1&2 and "I've Found Someone" to name a couple. But this list is nice.

cool

I'd like to see the album WHITE HEAT (*Barry's backing band which became SWITCH after several changes and disillusionment) re released. .....so that way i could hear it and tell Greg i scoped his classic album for less than $80

I might get up on it. Your Sweetness Is My Weakness is my fave track of his. The drums and energy are just banging. My uncle who was a pretty big radio guy swears Barry was financially broke when he passed. I was flabbergasted.

I love Barry White!! His music really is timeless!

In just read his memoirs which of course inspired me to jump head first back into his catalog. I am astounded by these grooves. Even more so to know that he did not read music.

WTF!?!

He said in the book if you were to put the "Sheet Music" for Love's Theme in front of him and took the name off it, he would have no idea of what it was!

Maestro indeed. Of which he also says he is not.

Said he just started tinkling around with a piano as a kid. Dude made quality music on up til the end. I am especially impressed with his duets with Tina Turner, Isaac Hayes, as well as the whole Staying Power album.
