Richard Pryor's wife confirmed Richard slept with Marlon Brando for example.

.

Pryor talked about his gay experiences at his own roast.

Yep. This isn't new news... Pryor spoke about his fluid sexuality over the course of his life. Brando has spoken about his love for men and women.

Wow! I must have missed the Pryor stuff. I always heard Marvin Gaye was Bi but never heard anything about Pryor and people never seemed to bring it up. Quincy is at a point in his life where he figures he's old, he has nothing to lose so he's going to spill the beans on everybody! lol

Is Q an .orger? His views on modern pop sound familiar:

.

Do you hear the spirit of jazz in pop today?
No. People gave it up to chase money. When you go after Cîroc vodka and Phat Farm. Simmons sold the company in 2004. and all that shit, God walks out of the room. I have never in my life made music for money or fame. Not even Thriller. No way. God walks out of the room when you’re thinking about money. You could spend a million dollars on a piano part and it won’t make you a million dollars back. That’s just not how it works.

.

Is there innovation happening in modern pop music?
Hell no. It’s just loops, beats, rhymes and hooks. What is there for me to learn from that? There ain’t no fucking songs. The song is the power; the singer is the messenger. The greatest singer in the world cannot save a bad song. I learned that 50 years ago, and it’s the single greatest lesson I ever learned as a producer. If you don’t have a great song, it doesn’t matter what else you put around it.

i never heard Marvin was Gay, never, the only way people thought that was because of his name, and when he was growing up, his crazy ass father too. richard? could be true, but what's the point of telling this stuff? As far as Michael "stealing" he didn't do anything that any other major star didn't do. You think Springsteen wrote every note on his records? fuck no, he got them in writing though. Elvis didn't write any songs and still had ways of ripping off the songwriters thanks to the colonel, just business.

yeah,we have all heard the rumors that Quincy himself is bisexual. That's why it's probably not a good idea for him to go around "spilling the beans" on others lol we're in the middle of this whole Hollywood/sexual harrassment thing where many famous peoples' skeletons are being revealed.Quincy could be the next target.

Obviously its not "so what" because some have attempt and still would like to construct Rock & Roll /R&B of NOT being synonymous. Its why Little Richard in a joking manner ( to conceal the anger) repeatedly said what he said. We have a history in the U.S. of whitewashing or creating revisionist history. For most people in the United States, history is something that happened two weeks ago on a reality TV show.

Sorry but Quincy only lashes out to people who are dead and can't defend themselves.
And about Jimi's situation I'll take Miles Davis's account of Hendrix over anything that old lying ass Quincy Jones has to say.
Hell I'll take Mile Davis; and Herbie Hancock's genious over anything Quincy Jones has done. As an MJ fan I respect him for his contributions to his career but that's about it.
Quincy seems like creepy guy with all those 2Pac stories from back in the day.

Exactly.

Am I the only one who thought this interview was fairly unremarkable in its content? Surely, it's news to no-one that The Beatles were hack instrumentalists (while being talented songwriters and innovative recording artists), and that MJ and most other powerful egotistical acts have always been massive c**ts when it comes to grabbing at money. And it's not at all unlikely that very many people fucked very many other people, on the down low, back in the day.

Seems there's little reason for anyone to get too affronted by this. Hell, with the best part of seven decades in the music business, I bet the dude has more shocking stories to tell than these!

I can't condone Quincy Jones lies or respect him just because of his past accomplishments. If he is in the early stages of dementia that would different and would explain a lot. Otherwise it's just plain wrong for him to attack all of these dead people under the guise of opinion.

I don't believe half of what he is saying and I read the entire interview. Hell, I don't think he met half the people he is claiming to be friends with. It's a common trick of manipulative people to include a grain of truth in their stories to make them seem more credible.

Sad.

they were great as creative, conceptive artists, as musicians? they weren't that bad. of course compared to Jazz guys, no one can compare except classical musicians maybe. Jazz guys are monsters but rock is a totally different thing, more feel, less about technique. Paul is one of the all time great bassists, ringo could do some great drumming at times, although everyone has derided him, I wouldn't know enough to know if he wasn't good. He was influential though, they all were. and as far as musicians, people have said, i think it was billy eckstine said q was a "terrible trumpetplayer".

Speaking of Miles Davis, He took full credit for "Blue Green" on the "Kinda Blue" album. Bill Evans wrote the song from beginning to end. Bill Evans also co-wrote "Kinda of Blue" but after the debut 1959 album release, subsequent album only credited Miles Davis as writer for "Kinda of Blue". Bill Evans told Mary McPartland -Piano Jazz NPR - he wrote the songs and Davis received all the royalties.

Mile Davis never did own up to the truth and claimed he'd written both songs by himself. Truth is always kinda shocking when a narrative has been repeated so long its becomes fact. There's been a lot of "borrowing" and stealing in the music biz. As we know that ain't anything new... so what?

I don't even know why this is controversy; of course, Rock and Roll AND R&B came from the down and dirty blues, which is the flip side of Black gospel music. That's why we got some of the best music in the world... Old rock'n'rollers like the Stones readily admit that was the music that inspired them and that they imitated growing up. Little Richard was indeed "The Architect of Rock and Roll" as he used to say. lol And he built his music on his gospel roots...which he has now returned to. Full circle.

I feel like Quincy’s message should’ve been directed to Rolling Stone and RRHOF. They are the ones who love to act like only rock matters when there are many r&b and urban artist who are more talented and just as if not more influential than heir beloved rock acts

rolling stone definitely, and the rest of the rock cognesceti or whatever you call it, they usually don't give proper credit to black artists, however, the artists themselves are a different story. Elvis was quoted a long time ago admitting, false modesty or no, that his music didn't compare to black folks, the stones, the beatles, have always shown due respect but they can't help it if the pop world has raised them above everyone else. It's always dylan, the beatles, the stones, in the very top spots, that's not their faults.

I don’t think Thriller is overrated or the Beatles I’m certain regards. I always felt they were rated as high due to their cultural significance. With the Beatles as far as singing they’re not that good and their music sounds bland. But they were innovative and great songwriters. Quincy just said they didn’t play instruments well.
