Man I can't pick just one biggrin

I'm biased to TSOP being from Philly, but I like these ones just as much:

The Soul Train Gang - Soul Train '75 (1975)

The Soul Train Gang - Soul Train '76 (Get On Board) (1976 -1978)

The Whispers - Up On Soul Train (1980 - 1983)

O'Bryan - Soul Train's A Comin' (Original 1983) (Party Down Remix 1984 - 1987)

MFSB feat. The Three Degrees - TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia) (1973 - 1975)

This song will always have the iconic sound I associate with Soul Train...

Agreed.

After TSOP, then O'Bryan. Then probably The Whispers(all IMO).

O'Bryan's theme song though, that was the jam. I remember when it first came out...In the streets that mother was pretty dang popular. O'Bryan made a lot of nice slow jams, but he could Funk(dance funk) as well. The album he released in 2007(F1rst), was excellent. It has a lot of really good slow-mid tempo songs.

Anyway, thanks for the thread, JabarR74. It reaffirms just how good Soul/R&B music was back then.

I would say the late 70s up to early 80s, mainly because that's around the time I started getting into music.

The sponsor was actually the Johnson Products Company (who made Afro Sheen).

Shit... I gotta pick one? I would have to go with the Whispers "Up On Soul Train." Brings back so many memories of watching Soul Train and then the Kung Fu flick that followed. Then that O'Bryan joint that I spin religiously.
