Tom Petty death: No investigation into Illegal Fentanyl

.

Sources tied to the case tell us that during the course of the coroner’s death investigation, a “home visit” was never conducted to gather evidence on all of Petty’s medications because he officially passed away at UCLA Medical Center after being transported from his house in Malibu.

.

Had Petty died at home, investigators would have gathered all relevant evidence, including prescription bottles and information about the doctors. However, this was never done and the L.A County Coroner officially closed its case, listing the death as accidental.

.

However, officials are not interested in opening an investigation to determine how Petty may have obtained an illegal version of fentanyl. A spokesperson for the LAPD tells The Blast, “We have not received any information that detectives are investigating into how Mr. Petty obtained any drug.”

.

Illegal drugs are also not the main issue because, as addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky tells us,“The doctors are the ones who should be held accountable,” adding, “It is very hard to overdose from just prescribed fentanyl patches, but it is very easy to overdose if taken together with benzodiazepines.”

I think the latest news is that Tom Petty died of MIXED prescribed toxicity. To me, that is negligence.

.

The medical examiner's news release said the autopsy found these drugs in Petty's system: fentanyl, oxycodone, acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl, which are opioids; temazepam and alprazolam, which are sedatives; and citalopram, an antidepressant.
.
The cause of death was "multisystem organ failure due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to mixed drug toxicity" and the manner of death was "accident," the medical examiner's news release said. Petty also suffered from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema, it said.

If its illegal fentanyl...

That means if you were taking a drug without any knowledge of how much should be taken or how it interacts with other drugs. So who's to blame? Mr. Petty.

Let me say this...

I didn't live in a ghetto, I did however lived in the Black community. Drugs, the distrubtion, and the selling of illegal drugs stared appearing in my community around 1967. We've had a serious drug problem in the United States for over 50 years. Music industry has had drug problem since the 1920's. I'll surmise most musicians in the industry abuse one drug or other. Tommy Petty isn't the first nor will he be the last musicians who OD's or death is related to drug use.

Drugs and abusing drugs are a choice. Everyone should man up and women up about this cuz, this shit ani't new. But to let others tell it this shit just started happening yesterday. Why?

Just seems like they are dodging the fact that he had illegal Fentanyl in his system at time of death. Because he died in the hospital, and not at home, there is no need for a criminal investigation. I have a feeling that Petty's family will just sweep this under the rug.

.

Tom had a lot of health issues, but still, he was very heavily-medicated and there needs to be some accountability here; and that falls with his doctors. It's really messed up.

It is really messed up and suspicious. Like you said, drugs are readily available in the music industry, and Tom Petty could get his hands on anything he wanted to, illegal or not. Such a shame. I just don't like when the family tries to sweep it under the rug, because this is a serious problem in our country.

I get what you mean. If the illegal stuff hadn't been in his system, it possibly would not have become a toxic, lethal combination.

What's always kinda of weird about this... the day Mr. Petty died, numerous people died that same way. Of course these people aren't celebrities or a noted musician. Maybe Petty's family feared he'd be judge; I can't understand that. I felt Tom's family wanted to keep it moving , possibly because such incrimination's wouldn't bring him back. Maybe Tom's family knew he messing around but not with Fentanyl. You have three options when fucking around with drugs... death, prison or both. I don't know the human condition...

It's just beyond sad. Petty never hid his drug use, and he was in very poor health, aside from his broken hip. He had just celebrated 40-years as a successful musician in the industry--he wanted to please his fans, right up till the end. sad

He was heavily medicated because he was ill and not just from drugs. We need to face the facts Prince's case would have been closed or not even open if there was not more to it.
