"Starlight" from the 'Out Of The Blue' album is a favorite of mine music what a beautiful song

Starlight, I hear you callin' out to me.
Sweet love rollin' across my mind again.
I want you, yes, I do, I need you, yes, I do.
And then you run.

You gotta stop foolin' around,
keep your feet on the ground, little girl,
and starlight will shine all around, little girl.

Starlight, your eyes are lookin' out so far away.
Constellation in the sky is smiling down on me, I wonder, wonder why.
I can feel you're so real, I can see you're so near
and then you run.

You gotta stop foolin' around,
keep your feet on the ground, little girl,
and starlight will shine all around, little girl.
You had me all the summer long, little girl.

Moonglow, come light the way up to my window.
As you roll across the night don't tell nobody that I told you so.
I want you, yes, I do, I need you, yes, I do.
And then you run.

You gotta stop foolin' around,
keep your feet on the ground, little girl,
and starlight will shine all around, little girl.
You had me all the summer long, little girl.

Starlight, your eyes are lookin' down on me so far away.

Many have compared "Mr. Blue Sky" to the Beatles with arrangement and harmonies and I would agree with that.

I definitely hear a strong Beatles influence in ELO's music. You can tell that Jeff is a huge fan of the Beatles.

Just another reason why I love the 70s so much.Artists and bands could be as creative as they wanted to,and still get played on the radio.

This is what I constantly tell people about how there is the lack of vision now with writing and things of that nature. Where is todays Jeff Lynne crafting symphonies and getting it on the radio.

I absolutely loved ELO during my high school days, especially the consecutive albums of On the Third Day (1973) and Eldorado (1974). These andthe Queen 2 album that was released around then were the best ever to listen to on the headphones in an altered state. They just blew my mind. I was okay that they became so successful after that with all of their pop singles, but they never again matched the brilliance of these two albums IMO.

I agree that El Dorado is one of their best albums.

I think my favorite ELO song is “Sweet Talking Woman” or “Strange Magic”....one of those.

nod "Midnight Blue" is a great ballad.Discovery is one of those albums where every song could have been a single. It's a solid album throughout."Wishing" is another underrated gem.

I love their music, but only have the 20 greatest hits CD (All over the world) and a few 7 inch singles from the 70s. Easily their best songs are Strange Magic, Turn to Stone and lately The Diary of Horace Wimp.

.

The CD is pretty good, but the version of Xanadu on it, is weak and has no Olivia Newton John (Being antipodean and gay, she is naturally a favourite of mine).

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

My first movement into ELO territory was when Time came out, although in fairness I probably heard "Turn To Stone" or "Mr. Blue Sky" somewhere before that, not knowing who they were. A friend played Time for us, and I was just enthralled with it. Ironically, it was the least-ELO album to that point, with very few strings, and a more pop approach.
Time still holds a special place for me. I love that it's a concept album, and has a stronger sci-fi appeal to it.

In the last few weeks,I've been listening to Time like crazy. It really is an amazing album! Totally different than their previous albums. As you can see above,I'm crazy about the songs "Yours Truly,2095" and "From The End Of The World".If it were up to me,those two songs would have been the singles smile A very interesting concept album,to say the least.
