Whitney was clearly the better singer by a mile when it comes to techniuqe. However, as is the case with many technically brilliant singers, there were times that her technique trumped the emotional impact of her words. While many of Madonna's lyrics were trite, she lent a warm and relatable voice to them that made them come to life. If her singing was as stilted as her talking voice in recent years, I don't think she would have ever had any hits. Technique is over-rated!

That doesn't apply to Whitney and there's nothing about Nadonnas voice that's drenched with emotion. Whitney is one of those singers who vocally had it all. Also Whitneys techniquecwasbt the best which is why after The Bodyguard era her voice was in decline. It wasn't just smoking(Whitney didn't smoke crack), it was her poor technique and hitting those high notes night after night.

That's not true. With Madge I get the impression that she's trying to sing in key

Whitney was nothng but a product. She was called "Whiny Houston" for a reason. And she killed herself and her daughter.

Madonna is my one diva to rule over them all most of the time(Kylie when she has new stuff supersedes) but this apples to oranges. Whitney was the more technically skilled and talented singer no doubt. But Madonna and Whitney are totally different things. at the heart of everything Madonna does is the desire to be the most famous person alive, it's why she went to new York to join the Martha Graham and later Alvin Alley Dance Troops but moving on to music. Madonna is a songwriter and producer as well. Steven Bray, Patrick Leonard, William Orbit, Shep Pettibone have all said the lyrics and Melody of every song is hers, she writes the best pop in the business. Madonna took those hooks to the stratsphere by combining them with iconic images and videos and a political and personal message. She created the pop concert tour as we know it now and still puts on a show that performers half her age could only dream of doing.and she's done all on her terms
You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

There is no comparison. You are trying to compare apples to oranges. Madonna is a performer. Whitney was a vocalist.

.

A fair comparison would be Celine Dion to Whitney, because they are/were vocalists.

Is this a joke?? These two names shouldn't even be said in tha same sentence. Whitney was a singer! Madonna is a performer. No question here as to who had the real singing voice.

My exact thoughts.

This is a joke. not even worth discussing.

I'll give it to Madonna, she does write her songs but she's not the best pop writer. She has some hits though

Because she never smoked crack. People called her a crack head because she's black. Freebase is pure coke.
