production halted on Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic amid Bryan Singer "health concerns"

https://www.nytimes.com/2...alted.html

Apparently Bryan failed to show up at production...and it's come to a halt. Reports are quick to note that this has happened before...only for him to return. HOWEVER:...

An L.A. Times correspondent also tweeted that his pr and communications are also now being handled by his ATTORNEY.

So....likely. this Weinstein thing has reared its finger at singer and production is at a stand still.

No further comments until further info comes forth; but it looks like all us geeks at Queenzone.com were right.... a scandalous issue in his past, a film that's been talked and postponed for almost a decade and now this.

Maybe it won't be completed. We should have taken bets on this.

hmmm Bryan Sinner has been erratic in the past, so maybe it's a bit of nothing again. However it's no secret he's been clashing with the producers, Taylor and May might be making things difficult for him and he needs a break, Borat walked off because of them. But if it's a legitimate health concern we'll have to wait for more news.

well... it's official...20th century fox has fired Bryan Singer from the production

It's state above that the conflicts were between Singer and Rami Malek, which came to a head thanks to Singer's erratic behaviou, disappearances and unprofessional manner.

(these are the reasons given)

Supposedly the film only had two weeks further till completion.

Maybe this is a pre emptive issue?

UPDATE!:

Bryan Singer has taken to expressing his discontent with the 20th Century Fox Production for his recent firing. He's stated that Fox would not approve his time off to take care of an ailing parent.

....

...
....

SO.... all the suspicions are still there (maybe fox wanted to avoid any potential scandal and axed him)....or it could be a mutual scheme to save the film in the event he's tagged on charges...

OR.... I'm just not giving the guy who's never been prosecuted....any credit.

Sometimes were there is smoke you have fire. At the bare minium he has been at the center of events involving minors. Allegations are flying right now with many people stepping aside from projects while not totally denying what is being said or filing lawsuits to make it stop. Wonder why that is?

-------------

Sexual abuse allegations[edit]

In 1997, a 14-year-old extra accused Singer of asking him and other minors to film a shower scene in the nude for the film Apt Pupil. A lawsuit was filed but dismissed for insufficient evidence.[43][44]

In April 2014, Singer was accused in a civil lawsuit of sexual assault of a minor. According to the suit filed by attorney Jeff Herman, Singer is alleged to have drugged and raped actor and model Michael Egan in Hawaii after meeting him at parties hosted by convicted sex offender Marc Collins-Rector in the late 1990s.[45] Singer's attorney called the allegations "completely fabricated" and said Singer planned to countersue.[46] Singer denied the allegations in a statement calling them "outrageous, vicious, and completely false."[47] On May 22, 2014, Singer's attorney presented evidence to Federal District Judge Susan Oki Mollway stating that neither Singer nor Egan were in Hawaii at the time.[48] In early August 2014, Egan sought to withdraw his lawsuit via a Request for Court Order of Dismissal, and asked that it be granted "without prejudice or an award of costs or fees, in the interest of justice."

In May 2014, another lawsuit was filed by attorney Jeff Herman on behalf of an anonymous British man. Both Singer and producer Gary Goddard (who was also named separately in the first case) were accused of sexually assaulting "John Doe No. 117." According to the lawsuit, Goddard and Singer met the man for sex when he was a minor and engaged in acts of "gender violence" against him while in London for the premiere of Superman Returns.[49] The charge against Singer in this case was dismissed, at the accuser's request, in July 2014.[50]

Singer is cited in the 2014 documentary film on child sexual abuse in Hollywood, An Open Secret, though the film makes no specific allegations against him.[51]

Author Bret Easton Ellis alleges that two of his former partners have attended underage sex parties hosted by Singer and fellow director Roland Emmerich.[52]

In the wake of revelations regarding Harvey Weinstein's extensive history of sexual harassment and assault in October 2017, allegations against Singer were revived. Ira Madison III linked Singer to an alleged culture of pedophilia in the Hollywood film industry.[53] After Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual assault later in October, journalist Erin Strecker noted that Singer's name began to trend on Twitter and connected the two phenomena.[54] On November 6, 2017, seven students at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, created a Change.org petition to remove Singer's name from the School's Division of Cinema and Media Studies. Their petition was picked up by British newspaper the Daily Mail and film entertainment website The A.V. Club.[55][56] In the midst of these events, it was noticed that Singer had deleted his Twitter account.[57]

I wonder what the reaction would be now if Michael Jackson were alive and the allegations came out now about child touching? The settling out of court on these cases is basically an admission something happened

Well. The inevitable leak. (*on mobile so no link. .my phone acts badly)
Singer is being sued for allegedly raping a 17 year old in 03'.

Sounds like a CIVIL case for "DAMAGES" ($$$$) ....likely his habit + a sign of the times, bit of a shakedown.

Until ya see them being up criminal charges then it's just Hollywood as usual

He has been involved in several allegations all concerning minors. I do not know what you mean by "habit" because if that was he should be in jail.

I am amazed at the cluelessness of the laws concerning minors and it is no wonder people like Singer just kept right on going. Any normal person would not be in a 30 mile radius of young people after first allegations. I am sorry this guy screams pedophile.

^ totally. Pardon my cynicism. ....but I'm just critical of "how long does a person WAIT before doing something? " and ...why wasn't THIS reported to authorities in 2003.

I'll have to look into this, but it's likely CIVIL charges rather than anything criminal. ...and being cynical, that usually means money ($$$) not any pursuit of justice.

Here's an interesting bit.... I hate to link anybody to the drivel known as the Daily Mail but it is so. The mud is being slung on both sides... this accuser enlisted the same lawyer as the previous accuser. Also, Singer's rep states that this fella did not recall this event until now. (which they allege is conveniently timed AFTER a bankruptcy).... one's going the money angle, another is going....the money angle.

make sense of it what u will.

I'm just following this out of fanship for the band Queen. Never liked the X men films...all but Logan were utter shit.

So the Queen movie is more important then this dude's behavior.

Incident at Super Man Returns was not years ago and this is Civil Suit because the stature of limitations has run out and there can be no criminal charges.

Also you have this below.

Author Bret Easton Ellis alleges that two of his former partners have attended underage sex parties hosted by Singer and fellow director Roland Emmerich.[52]

Mr. Ellis is not an unknown person making an allegation to get money. He is repeating what his partners told him about these parties.

nope it's not more important.

I'm simply stating that I'm not emotionally involved with it. It's not a big investment of my life. For whatever reason you believe I was being flippant about it.

Thereafter I just posted another link with an update as reported.... without any of my commentary, in hopes that that would not result in more "discourse".
