Okay, some say we got Rammstein, but come on, we germans are the masters when it comes to screaming for no reason

Aren't Kraftwerk from Germany? They're somewhat known in the US. If not directly, then through their influence on 1980s dance music, new wave, & the electrofunk sound in early hip hop and some R&B bands like Midnight Star. Freak A Zoid has Kraftwerk elements in it and so does Planet Rock from Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force. The local R&B station used to play Kraftwerk songs like The Telephone Call & Numbers. Numbers was popular for breakdancing to as well.

They've been nominated for induction to the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. So that should give you an indictation their popularity and/or influence in the US. Probably without Kraftwerk, there might not have been a Duran Duran or Depeche Mode. Or at least they would sound different.

That's pretty awesome.. I really didn't know that. Great to know that there are german artist who influenced others....

Acts like Elton John & Michael Jackson wanted to work with them, but were turned down because the group did not want to give their sound away. Ralf (I think, as he was one of the main 2 guys in the band.) from the group mentioned talking to Mike in the 1980s about a colaboration. I don't know if you can find the interview online, but it is mentioned in a biography about Kraftwerk. There's a few, so I don't remember which book it was.
