What is this? Sounds like Teddy Riley production. It's too good to be a fan made thing.

This was the very first cd I ever got as a child at 6 years old back in 92. I cant say I care much for the album now, but it still occupies a special place in my heart because it was my og cd. I remember being fascinated by the cover, and especially the longbox the cd was stored in (Remember those? Lol those longboxes were cool as hell, regardless if they were an immense waste of paper). It aint MJ's best, and it's pretty dated now, but there's still some amazing jams on it. My first grade class also did a little play about the enviroment, and we used Heal The World as a singalong to end our show. Wow. Lol.

I don't care if anybody else thinks it sounds dated... to me that album is timeless... and neglected by the anniversary remastering... (TWICE!)

It's his last passionate recording without pure hostility and grief.

also...on a bunch of the cuts.. you can't help but move.....even if you're dancingly impaired.

This is why I was pissed that LA county wouldn't allow a group to gather around STAPLES the day of his procession. THe guy inspired millions of people with positivity until all this (until proven) garbage came at him with the extortion charges.

Instead of allowing a man celebrated by millions to be honored, the city practically cordoning off the entire surrounding regions.

The man got there by effort and he was respected and adored for who he was and his art... he changed the world and was not an elected/born by birth right "leader" etc... he was a celebrated and venerated guy for a good reason.

He and Prince didn't get their due in their lifetime... It still bothers me that so many of P's own fans are/were stuck in 1984 in their thinking... Prince never faded away/disappeared....but u've got all these people who feel like he stopped recording after 1994.

ANyways, rant done. Much love to MJ and Prince. I do find myself spinning the DANGEROUS album more than most of Mj's work. DANGEROUS and HISTORY disc 2 (Skipping the irrelevant stuff: come together/D.S.)

not much... just that of his generation he helped bring about a wider concern (even if it hasn't achieve as much as intended) toward positivity, "conservation" and ecological issues.

It was a positive step forward for kids of the time, to inspire others to replicate a similar concern. That's not entirely unique for someone in that age group.

Among contemorary "artists" there isnt much being discussed or discoursed but fodder, self promotion, materialism, consumerism etc...

Wouldnt find any of that on an MJ disc

anyways, back to the date of his memorial service... I know damn well that hundreds (if not more) of people had flown in from around the world with the intention of showing their respects.....but were cruelly prevented from doing so.

I could imagine the procession of people lining the blocks.

As Conan O'Brien aptly put it... (paraphrasing)

"Police officials were apparently concerned that the gangs from BEAT IT would show up" (mocked a dance)

^true.

He did have that deal with PEPSI....and look where that got him. The rest is explainable as pop stardom. LA GEAR too... they appealed to him.

Kid's wanted kicks like him.

And let's not forget he was involved to co create the soundtrack to Sonic The Hedgehog 3. (Note also that Sonic's shoes were designed after MJ's). Moonwalker... well... they're fun games, but...yeah.

Mike wasn't known for wearing sneakers, like Michael Jordan with Air Jordans. He's known for black penny loafers. So it would make more sense for fans to wear loafers or 1 glove.

Right on. The loafers were his staple. ...i was just referring to the BAD shoe/boots that were marketed not the other stuff with his face. ..that's lunch boxing
Heck it was his second life as a marketed product. The J5 era already had its share.

A clip of the jam session Michael and Bill Bottrell had when coming up with Give In To Me. Then the rough studio cut of GITM

It's aged well for an album dominated by elements of new jack swing, hip hop, soul, and pop/rock for sure. It's a clever fusion of different styles of music inspiring mj, and part of the reason is the literal use of self as an instrument and not using the standard pop music chords and harmonies and using subtle ones more common in jazz, classical and eastern music though subtler and bass driven, something contemporaries who utilized new jack swing did not really have . It's no wonder it won for best engineered album, that alone is the standout

Even the structure of the album start to finish is like that of a musical, up and down and change of tempos and evoking different moods and emotions in the music, mj being no stranger to that with his musical influences and considering pursuing acting prior to recording this album

I think a lot of songs are too long, be it the intro (black and white, Will you be there) or the refrain that keeps repeating (who is it).

Some very strong songs on it, with my favourites Jam (so much energy) and In the Closet.

Would have been perfect, if it didnt have this early-90's-i-have-to-fill-the-whole-75-minutes-on-this-cd thing.

His best song for me is probably Who Is It. The groove of In The Closet is insane, too.

Always sounded like he was taking a dig at his own family...

...And although it probably isn't ... I've always thought I'd heard MJ say "MOTHERFUCKER" towards the end of that song.

Wasn't there some nastiness going around with someone having a kid with a brother's wife n what not? I remember hearing something like that... Jermaine's wife... something

I've never heard the song. Is it a bootleg? If so, I don't really deal with those, although I've heard a lot of Beatles unreleased stuff. There used to be a radio program called Breakfast With The Beatles that came on Sunday mornings that would sometimes play unreleased track or alternate versions of stuff. Anyway, Randy & Jermaine have some children with the same woman. I don't think neither were married to her, not sure about that though. She lived in the house with Katherine & Joe for a long time.

You should take a listen it's a great song. It was released officially in 2004 The Ultimate Collection.
