“Partridge Family” star David Cassidy has been hospitalized in critical condition and placed in a medically induced coma, as his organs are shutting down, his rep confirms.

According to TMZ, Cassidy was rushed to a Florida hospital a few days ago and his condition has been rapidly declining. Their source tells them that the former teen heartthrob’s kidneys are failing and that he needs a liver transplant soon or he could die.

In February, Cassidy made public his battle with dementia and announced he would retire from touring as a musician to concentrate on his health.

“I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming,” Cassidy said in an interview with People Magazine, adding that his mother and grandfather had also suffered from the degenerative brain disease.

In an appearance on “Dr. Phil” shortly thereafter, Cassidy told his son,”I want you to promise me you’ll find a way to let me go and don’t let me live like that,” so that the singer doesn’t succumb to the disease like his mother did.

“When friends or family members ask you, ‘Remember, I just told you this two days ago?’ and there’s no memory of it … that’s when I began to be very concerned,” Cassidy told McGraw.

Danny Bonaduce: I’m a big believer in the power of prayers. Please keep my brother David Cassidy in yours. Thanks for all the love and support.

Shaun Cassidy: Thank you for all your love and good wishes for David. It means the world to all of us.

Man I grew up on the reruns of the show along with the Brady Bunch. 67 is too young to go. Alas I know it was heartbreakin for him being a teen idol, which he never got over. The man had a great voice in my opinion. Sure it was bugglegum music, but his voice always stood out. Rest.

PF Outtakes:

*

His voice reminds me of GM on this one:

*This was a comeback kinda hit song back in the 90's

One of mt favs. a duet with Kim Carnes:

Some favs.

*

*

With Glen Campbell

*

*

Featuring GM background vocals and a big hit in the UK:

*

*

*

With Micky & Peter tribute to Davy Jones

*

Classic done well:

Watch out Prince smile

The New York Times Obit: David Bruce Cassidy

00xp-Cassidy2-obit-master768.jpg

How does one define success? David Cassidy like so many artist seem to run or feel lthey've

been trapped by an image that doesn't represent them as the person they are let alone an artist. David

appeared to have struggled with the Teen Magazine / The Partridge Family years through out

his life, sometimes embracing it and sometimes dismissing it.

One of the cool things... There were a lot people who were into David than they'd like to admit. He was very

much in the same deal as The Carpenters, many wouldn't admit they liked let alone acknowledge they bought

their music. Even so, David time in the early 70's was the foundation of his career and it allowed him to have a

career in show biz almost up till the end. Not many artsit are capable of having that type of support from fans.

RIP Mr. Cassidy

Well done tribute TD3. I agree most people like him, but are either embarrassed to say so, especially if you're a straight guy.

Wow. David Cassidy's estate is valued at 150K. He left everything to his son, nothing for his daughter. For someone who has been in the entertainment industry for most of his life, he didn't have very much money. sad

He probably didn't. Things were different back then, and these days these stars get the mega $$
