I have all of his EPs. Coke, Jack and Cadillacs.....Lisa is on the Jack EP.

I LOVE Lisa, but it doesn't really remind me of Prince, but he has a couple of unrelased songs on soundcloud that remind me a lot of Prince. One is titled Who and the other is Satisfied.

The EPs are all on Amazon and well worth buying.

I know, right? People keep comparing him to Prince and D'Angelo but on some verses he reminds me of Sam Cooke or even a little of Jackie Wilson. With the Prince thing, I think it's the similar tone of voice because if you listen to them in back to back interviews their speaking voices have a similar tone.

But when you go a little deeper into his work you realize that what you hear is mostly Ro James. The various textures and the way he uses his voice is very distinct. His whole style and songcraft has that old soul vibe but at the same time, his sound is very fresh and updated. His tracks are very diverse and he's not afraid to experiment with ideas.

This is Rosie Gaines's nephew and I keep wondering if they will collaborate at some point?

I ain't gonna let nobody sleep on dude. lol

I saw him live last month and I plan to see as many of his shows as I can. The next gig is December 21st in Cali...I won't make that one, sad

But I will be front and center to see him perform on the Soul Train Awards Nov. 26th! biggrin
