Here's one of my faves from, "Who is Jill Scott?"...

I thought this joint was a sleeper. Not meant for radio but an album cut that kept me coming back for it's hypnotic groove and ever smooth vocals from Ms. Scott.

It's so funny hearing how she studied Prince because I always love how she's limitless with her voice and style. Jill can sing whatever the hell she wants.

This was one of the standouts for me when I first got the album. I listened to this one more than everything on the album. But such a great album beginning to end

Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
That old desperate and tainted love

Caught up in a maze of love, the crazy, crazy love
Thought it was good, thought it was real
Thought it was, but it wasn't love

I just don't know where I should go

So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
Self-serving, undeserving, 'constantly hurting me' love
Deserting me love, you said, I said, we said

But, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
Confusing love, misusing love, abusing love
This can't be
Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
Self-serving, undeserving, 'constantly hurting me' love

I just don't know where I should go, no
I just don't know, know, know, know
Where I should go

So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
That old desperate and dazed love

Caught up in the maze of love, the crazy craze of love
Thought it was good, thought it was real
Thought it was but it wasn't love

I just don't know where to go

So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
I'll walk away from
Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from love
Lonely, surely one step at a time
But surely, I will pass the old love aside
And love me

Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from
Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from desperating days love
Caught up in the maze love
Crazy, crazy, crazy love

Slowly surely, I'll walk away from
Slowly surely, I'll walk away from
Slowly surely, I'll walk away from

the ROOTS featuring Jill Scott

.

Jill Scott also wrote on You Got Me, Erykah Badu ended up on the single/album version for better visibility when The Roots crew were about to hit the "big time".

She sang it live with the Roots @ their 'The Roots Come Live' disc

They introduce Jilly from Philly and inform everyone she is the one that wrote the piece

Big Jill Scott fan but her career is floundering. Since she left Hidden Beach Records, her music and its quality has been so-so. I hope sister girl can right the ship... Ms. Scott is an amazing gifted artist.
