Yeah, it doesn't really look much like him, now that you mention it... lol

It's a bad shot, but I doubt they'd have set up a photoshoot without him.

He DID go through a very bloated period a few years ago. Possibly due to medication, who knows. His face went back to looking weathered again recently and I thought: "gee, they've fixed the problem"...

Age and water retention, possibly diabetes, liver...who knows. But he's looked better recently (2 years ago come to think of it)....

Yeah, I remember Jerry Lewis (the actor) being on a medication years ago that had him so bloated he looked like a chipmunk. But he was looking good again before he passed at 90. How many of us will live as long as these tough old guys?

Monkees do not belong on that stage. He just kept under ground. Must have made money.

Why not? It was their TV show. Liberace, Charlie Smalls, Tim Buckley, & Frank Zappa have also appeared on episodes of their show. Zappa also appeared in their movie Head and Jimi Hendrix opened up for The Monkees tour.

Damn! I sure as hell would have loved to see Jimi open for The Monkees! What was it like coming up after HIM?!

The Monkees caught flack for their Saturday Morning show (which everyone I know watched religiously as kids) but they were accomplished musicians in their own right. People forget that. Wouldn't that have been great to see Hendrix as an opening act? biggrin

It was originally a prime time show and came on Monday evenings I think. I wasn't around then. razz The Saturday version was reruns after it had been cancelled and some episodes had different songs overdubbed on them. Star Trek trivia: Chekov on the original show was given a hairstyle to look like Davy Jones because NBC wanted to reach teens. A lot of people don't know Mike Nesmith was one of the originators of country rock and also behind MTV being created and his mother invented Liquid Paper. Nez released the first long form VHS music video Elephant Parts and won a Grammy for it. This was before the Thriller album came out. Nez also directed the music video for Lionel Richie's All Night Long.

No doubt there will be one of the best Second Lines in New Orleans history for Mister Domino.

am I hallucinating.... or have several threads become populated with OTHER THREADS' information?

FOR INSTANCE: why is there a separate conversation in this thread about the freakin band the MONKEES??????????

I don't know. But I'm thinking of deleting my photo and tribute posts. Antoine Domino was one of the most important artists of the last century, creating the first rock and roll record. This thread is disrespectful of him. Thankfully, his hometown knows exactly how to give him a proper send-off. No monkees, beatles, or MJ involved.

Says the person who posted a picture of Michael Jackson. Mike's looks had nothing at all to do with anything. Fats appeared on the Monkees show and I posted a video of it. So it is related to the thread. It was someone else who first commented on it, a person who is always trolling threads. That is the only reason I said anything about the band. People also started saying something about Jerry Lee Lewis' looks.

fair enough. Didn't watch the links.

I've got a couple of his records. (lps) Didn't equate that tangent with trolling the board. BUT the criticism is noted and appreciated.

I thought it was a site mapping error. (not sarcasm), with coding things like that can happen
