Manson Appreciation/Heaven Upside Down Thread

I know there's some Manson fans here. I happen to be a black female one, which is a hard thing to be, let me tell ya. In any case I think Manson is so talented and underrated. His appearance over shadows his music, therefore I think it puts people off. Lately I'm noticing more acceptance and even admiration for him from the mainstream. Rappers are even citing him as an influence and want to collaborate with him which is pretty cool.

Any thoughts on Heaven Upside Down? Tattooed in reverse is my favorite. The album overall is pretty tight. Love it. He came back strong! Axl and Manson are the last two real rock stars left, imo.

He returned to form from 'Born Villain' onward in my opinion, but this latest album is the strongest of the bunch. Enough killer tracks to make even the most cynical and jaded happy.

His collaboration with Tyler Bates has really focused and energised him.

He's a friend in my close circle, but while not bad for sure, due to my adversy of covers, i dont rate him too high musically.

I like the new record more than the ones he's put since kind of becoming a B-list artist. I like the new record because it's actually quite aggressive and he's screaming again. He's got a good voice for screaming, although I'm fearing he won't be able to do it live that well anymore.

There's been plenty of good songs on the previous 3-4 albums (most of them being of the "Bowie-esque" kind), but I've had tough time telling the albums from each other. "The Pale Emperor" was slightly different with its "bluesy" vibe, but it was still a part of the same continuation of rather forgettable releases that started after "the best of" release he put out.

However, he really needs to come up with new visual ideas. Marilyn Manson's appeal has always relied on the videos, the costumes and the crazy make-up stuff. It's almost like he hasn't even tried to come up with anything that interesting visually in over 10 years.
