Lionel Richie, Katy Perry & Luke Bryan talk about American Idol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't see the point of bringing this show back......it ran its course.

I never wanted it back and this panel doesn't make me curious to tune in for even one episode.

I agree! I think the whole format is tired. I wouldn't watch it no matter who the judges are. I think if they are going to have a competition show, there should be one where people perform their own original material. Or perhaps show them writing a new song with the mentors. Lionel is a great songwriter. That is something he could do.

And then release the winning new song on itunes and that would give someone a head start on having an actual recording career.

Some things should just die and remain dead; American Idol is one of those things.

The show was a failure anyway, it created few stars and the vast majority of the winners have gone on to experience minimal success at best and/or never be heard from again. AI was a joke and the joke is on Fox being so thirsty for ratings that they would revive a recently cancelled show to receive them.
