Another great release this year by the Numero Group. If you like gritty funk and horns, this is it. The Budos Band forefathers. 9/10.

wow. thanks for hipping me to that! and the label! 3 lps for $20?! sold! and kudos for the budos.

Paul Simon The Rhythm of the Saints album cover

Hey, I just bought that LP last week! I always knew that after Graceland, Paul Simon made an album with Brazilian music, but I never got around to listening to it. The songs are not as strong as those on Graceland, but he really does a great job of mixing the Brazilian music with his own. And when he "drank a cup of herbal brew" in Spirit Voices, that takes me back to the ayahuasca experience I had in Peru a few years ago. So Paul has managed to capture the spirit of South America.

stoned

Graceland is a classic for sure yet I actually prefer The Rhythm Of The Saints. Maybe because it hasn't been overplayed... dunno. But, yeah, it's a beautiful piece of work.

I sure hope Deluxe reeditions would all contain the full album, instrumentals only.

Check out this bad boy (these bass lines!). The ride in the first verses...
And there's cowbell! And quite proeminent too...

Quite the craftsmen.

Can't stand voices? Here's the fully naked version.
That bass! I need more cowbell!
