New Whitney Houston Documentary

It'c gonna be on Showtime I guess in a few days I think but is playing very limiited theatrical release in NY & LA. It opened in those two cities last night. I just saw the noon matinee and it is really, REALLY good. (LOL I think there was like 7 other people n the theatre.)

Wasn't sure I was gonna find it worthwhile viewing, but it sure was.

Answers a lot of questions even ones you didn't know you had.

You don't even really need to be WH fan to enjoy it.

Don't miss it.

Could've helped if you gave the name of the doc.

But I Looked it up.."WHITNEY HOUSTON: CAN I BE ME?"

playing at Laemmle's Music Hall in Beverly Hills.

I was hoping it had more theaters. Sounds interesting.

Yeah I missed it when it was released locally in theatres. I like Nick Broomfields docos, I was surprised he took on Whitney as a subject. I figured it would be available online soon-ish plus I can't imagine feeling anything but sad after watching it so would prefer to do that in the privacy of my home.

nick broomfield was just a tabloid type reporter I thought, I don't think his docus have any real credibility.

Missed the beginning but saw most of it. Interesting, I guess it depends on how much one already knows about her history.

I missed the beginning also but I set my directTV to record next time it airs.

I found what I did see interesting and sad. I was always one of those people who didnt believe Whitney's drug use was as bad as everyone was saying. With all that I think Robin seemed like cool, faithful friend. Bobby Brown, I just feel she really truly loved him

They seemed to focus on kind of answering rumors, the story was very sad and they basically ended up saying that Whitney fell apart emotionally after losing Robin.

I guess this is a real thing now. It was reported earlier this year that TV One is doing a Bobbi Kristina movie.

Did you ask your ridiculous Neighbor "The Manger" did Whitney & Robin invite his Nosey azz into the bedroom when they had Sex? If he did not see them having Sex then he knows nothing...He could not have been anything special becuz you did not even mention his name...You met him in the 80's and that's probably when Whitney fired whatshisface...

Every time people see two Black Women or two Black Men in a close relationship they gotta be GAY...Why?...Cuz Black folks hate each other and hate-Fuck each other, so there's no way we can be Good friends with each other...

I have every premium channel in existance so I watched Can I be me over the Holiday weekend...The Docu-film is about 1hr40min....Most of the performance footage came from Whitney's "My Love is your Love" 1999 tour...She was in good voice LIVE on stage....Clips/interviews from Cissy & Whitney's brothers had to be very recent...I don't know if Nick interviewed them himself...Nick interviewed Whitney's road-crew and Label-execs...They were all believable even though they were once on Whitney's payroll..

Whitney's former Bodyguard appeared to be the most credible with what he witnessed..When he put Whitney's chaotic & life threatening lifestyle on paper Whitney's Management team fired him...Whitney did not/could not look him in the face after YEARS of service and a good working relationship....The most telling moment during his interview is when he said he'd give his life to save hers..He could have been bitter about the way his employment ended, being fired via a Call/formal-letter but what he remembered is how Whitney treated him..That's all people remember when you leave this Earth...They ONLY remember how you treated them...

A couple of things I took away from the Docu-film is that when addiction takes your life it can have a longterm affect on your Loved ones...Through her addiction Whitney never stopped talking to & Loving the Lord..God knew her before she was born, he knew her heart and he knew the end...

A friend of mine saw Whitney with Robin at a party, they were together as a couple. Whitney was bi. Nothing to be upset about, it is just the way it is.

She wasn't gay and she didn't do drugs and boy could she dance. Justin Timberlake put that coke up her nose. A friend who was a neighbor to her plumber in 1986 told me that Whitney's poo smelled like strawberries.

charlie who? charlie was his brother. maybe you mean johnny gill. i had a gay friend years ago who insisted everyone in hollywood was gay, he was going through a stage where he just came out the closet and so he went a bit crazy with his projecting on everyone. He insisted I was gay which didn't turn out so good for him. anyway, he had a friend who was some kind of hollywood decorator and he supposedly said that he was in eddies mansion and that eddie and arsenio were lovers, he didn't give good evidence though so i didn't believe him at that time. truth is, most people in the public eye have those rumours going around.

I agree and all these Whitney docs are exploiting her as well (and full of lies) that is why I don't watch any of it.

I watched it last night on Netflix......and I give it a 2.5 out of popcorn because it was half-baked. On the positve the live footage from her 1999 tour was amazing.... but did they really need to spend alot of time trying to decide if she was gay or bi shrug Also did we really need to see Tina Brown visit the house that Whitney and Bobby lived in Atlanta shrug you know the same relative who for years sold stories about her to the tabloids, and along with everyone else in her family and entourage. Recently I read that Clive Davis is gonna make a Whitney doco Clive Davis Talks Whitney Houston Documentary, Working With Apple http://www.hollywoodrepor...le-1036683 and it sounds to me like another attempt to re-write Whitney's story and paint himself as a knight in shining armour. Seriously if I have learnt anything in the last 5 years is that Whitney died by her own hand, and all these people who claim to have loved her also played a role in her and her daughter's demise. Anything for the shine and $$$$$.

Bobby Brown sues TV One over Bobbi Kristina
By Nicholas Robinson | September 10, 2017 | Rolling Out

These days it seems like every time a celebrity biopic hits the scene family members and friends close to the late celeb have come out in protest of the film and it’s alleged inaccuracies. And this seems to be the case again with the upcoming Bobbi Kristina biopic, as reports have revealed that the late celeb’s father, Bobby Brown, is suing TV One over the film.

As previously reported, the TV movie will focus on Bobbi Kristina’s tumultuous relationship with her parents, Brown and the late Whitney Houston, as well as her dysfunctional relationship with her troubled ex-boyfriend Nick Gordon.

However, according to reports, the real-life Brown is not happy about the way the film will portray him and he has filed a lawsuit against TV One for showing him in a negative and untrue light. In the film, Brown will be played by actor Hassan Johnson and he will allegedly be shown as a “hard drug user” who neglects his daughter after the tragic death of Houston, who died in 2012 after being found submerged in a hotel bathtub.

In the suit, Brown alleges that there are scenes in the film that show him “violate [sic] towards Houston,” and suggests Brown “does not love his daughter [and is not] committed to his daughter.”

Brown insists that he was not abusive to his family nor was he a bad parent to Bobbi Kristina and he claims the filmmakers and network are using his painful life story to make a profit.

Brown names Producers Tracey Baker-Simmons and Wanda Shelley in the suit and claims they’re using information they recieved from his 2004 reality show “Being Bobby Brown” without his permission.

Brown is now seeking $1M in damages from TV One LLC, Simmon and Shelley, and their affiliates.

However, TV One seems to be steadfast in promoting the film and they released a statement to E! News saying they “stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina’s life.”
