UnSung Shanice

I love her, she has an amazing voice and I watched her story on UnSung last night. A few things; Didn't know she was married to Flex, her kids are adorable, she is so strong for what she went through, and it makes me love her even more as a person!

That's all!

I watched bits and pieces on youtube yesterday. Interesting that her label felt her wholesome, girl-next-door image hurt her career.

I absolutely love her as well, and I definitely was surprised as well about her label thinking that her wholesome image would hurt her career.

I think what hurt her career was her label taking her out of pop genre and throwing her into R&B bc she was said to be abandoning her black fans (not exact wording but similar) and the need for her to have a more urban image

Most definitely. I took to her instantly at a time when I wasn't into teen artists.

I remember she had Can You Dance out around the time The Deele released Can You Dance

the same year from their Eyes Of A Stranger album. I've been a fan of Shanice since.

I love her LA Face album. Fly Like An Angel, Somebody Else, Ain't No Remedy, and Yesterday

are among my favorites.

Yuuup I remember when she came on the scene around the time of Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.

Always been a fan of fine Shanice!

My favorite of hers is probably "Silent Prayer" (although "I Love Your Smile" is, was, and will always be undeniable while "It's for You" is a staple on my underrated 90s R&B playlist). Shanice and Johnny Gill should've done a duets album.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
