T Rex -The Slider

Are any of you guys familiar with this album? I think it's just phenomenal and an apex of glam and perhaps even the larger field of early 70s rock. Tight, great but lyrically obtuse songwriting, an array of emotions (often melancholy), inventive guitar and signature Marc Bolan vocals. I always felt there was a artistic similarity between Bolan and 80s Prince. Envelope-pushing, playful androgyny, distinctive and inventive guitar styles..

Favorite songs on this include: Metal Guru, Ballrooms of Mars, Telegram Sam, Main Man, The Slider, Buick Mcakane (covered years later by GNR).

Toofunkyinhere	Brilliant album, think I like it more than Electric Warrior We're here, might as well get into it.

novabrkr	I don't think the songwriting on the album is on the same level on Electric Warrior. Electric Warrior I can sing along to pretty much all the way throughout, but that's hardly the case with The Slider. I also feel Bolan started to repeat himself badly already on this album. It got almost absurd on successive records.

That, along with Slider, is one of my favorite Bolan (who I absolutely ADORE) records. I've got them both in constant rotation.
