Top 5 Madonna album covers

We have a topic about Madonna's looks, how about one about her best album covers? My favourites are

True Blue

Like a Virgin

American Life

1 - TRUE BLUE

.

2 - MADONNA

.

3 - RAY OF LIGHT

.

4 - GHV2 (sorry, I'm including compilations)

.

5 - I'M BREATHLESS

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

In no order:

True Blue (classic Herb Ritts photography)

Like A Prayer (no face on the cover?!)

Something To Remember (in Versace by Testino, beautiful)

Ray of Light (new & improved Madonna 2.0, came after she was done with the shoot but the photographer said 'no we're not')

Celebration (the perfect pop-art cover by Mr. Brainwash)

Honorable mention: Bedtime Stories (inspired by Harlow, shot in Miami on her birthday, it feels candid, sexy (but not dirty you know I got enough problems), inviting)

Tough choices!!

1. True Blue ... just iconic
2. Ray of Light ... she looked so fit then
3. Confessions ... all round great design
4. Like A Prayer ... only one without M's face and her best album.
5. Like A Virgin ... iconic again

Amazing choices and facts I didn't know before, thanks for sharing! And yes, I agree Herb Ritts was so talented, often imitated but never duplicated!

It is, and it reminds me of the "Vogue" iconography, with the pouty pose, lower camera angle, jaw in full light. Similar imagery in "Express Yourself".

Nope. It was shot for the album.

1. Like a Virgin (The whole Black and white, meets the "I've just been fucked" slut look suits her)

2. Like a Prayer - Masterful

3. Erotica - Sexy and delicious

4. Celebration - I love mash ups

5. Immaculate Collection (Including sleeves) the whole Liza Minelli cabaret look, cigarettes, defiant poses and newly inflated lips are just cool.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

It is. While I did not like the album the art was nice, the rainbow colors and off mirror effect worked really well with the typography. It was somewhat mysterious but beautiful in color values and hue...something like the 20Ten cover.

It only has a couple of good tracks amongst them Falling Free, Bang Bang, Masterpiece and Girl Gone Wild. GMAYL is the worst first single she has ever released.

For some reason, MDNA is the only Madonna album I don't have. I have never wanted it for some reason, I have all the others, even Rebel Heart as that has 2 bangers - Ghostown and Icon (Both easily her best songs since the 90s).

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Really? i don't agree, Living For Love, Joan Of Arc, Rebel Heart, Devil Pray, Best Night and Beautiful Scars are all better than those you mention, let alone being the best songs since the 90's.

I also love the colour scheme of that album artwork with the hot pink and subtle blue contrast, but feel this is when she started going downhill musically/as an albums artist if you ask me, though good songs on this album are Masterpiece, I Don't Give A, Falling Free and Love Spent.

I agree. I wanted to like it. Really did try but it just pale compared to the bouncy and agressive funk of Hard Candy. She traded catchy chorus for pale American Life like sounds. The songs didnt work, but when they did they were fun. Girls Gone Wild, Addicted, Masterpiece and Turn Up The Radio were nice. The album I agree was ruined however by that terrible first single. A sound she continued with several tracks again on Rebel Heart.

Same with me, played it over and over and just couldn't. I agree I'm Addicted was also a good song, but after not hearing it for awhile and revisiting it, I couldn't get back into it, which is not what happens with Madonna albums for me. She always had a funk overtone in her music, very little of it on MDNA.

Also, I like the upbeat version of Rebel Heart I heard on youtube, not the acoustic one. Someone I played it for thought the song would have been a massive hit if that version stayed.

So what, I don't expect you to be Robert Christgau or Rolling Stone, its my opinion and whether you agree with it or not, I could not give a flying fuck.
