RIP Chester Bennington

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has reportedly committed suicide at age 41, according to TMZ. TMZ reports Bennington hanged himself at a Palos Verdes Estates residence in L.A. County. Billboard has reached out to reps for the band and authorities for confirmation. Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed to Billboard there was a death on Bennington's Palos Verdes block on the morning of Thursday, July 20.

Bennington struggled with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life. He was married and is survived by six children.

eek What a huge shock. So incredibly sad. Linkin Park are one of my biggest guilty pleasures. Hybrid Theory was the soundtrack to my awkward adolescence.
If you will, so will I

I used to love Linkin Park's album Hybrid Theory back in the day, haven't listened to their music in years, however I did recently see clips with Chris Cornell (Chester's good friend) and Linkin Park performing one of Chris's old songs with Temple Of Dog and I was reminded of Chester's talents.

So sad news, and I don't know if it's coincidence that this happened on Chris Cornell's birthday, given their close friendship (Chester was godfather to one of Chris Cornell's children).

On a related note, I don't know if Chris Rock's Instagram account was hacked, but if he REALLY posted this, NOT cool Chris, not cool. disbelief

Love this track.

Chester, we hardly knew ye. Rest in peace.

Weep not for roads untraveled
Weep not for paths left lone
Because beyond every bend is a long blinding end
It's the worst kind of pain I've known

Give up your heart left broken
And let that mistake pass on
Because the love that you lost wasn't worth what it cost
And in time you'll be glad it's gone

Weep not for roads untraveled
Weep not for sights unseen
May your love never end and if you need a friend,
There's a seat here alongside me

For me, it was all about Points Of Authority and Faint. Just screaming along to.those bridges and choruses. I really enjoyed Chester & Co. performing at Live Earth Japan back in 2007. I hope his soul will find rest, as far as I'm concerned he left us with a fine legacy.

Yeah, that's not cool for Chris Rock to say that. And yes, today is Chris Cornell's Birthday. Chester also performed at Chris' funeral. Sad that he had 6 kids of his own also.

This is so sad. I was looking forward to seeing Linkin Park perform next week in NYC. I didn't know he and Chris Cornell were so close and that he was huge influence on him. His death must have destroyed him. RIP Chester and Chris.

Sad story. Not really familiar with LP music but I remember them being out in the

early 2000's during the Limp Bizkit and Korn era. RIP

Awful news. He was much too young and left all his children with broken hearts. sad

.

Why does this keep happening? I know he was good friends with Chris Cornell. Really sad he made this choice because he had so much to look forward to. My prayers and condolences to the Bennington family. sad rose

The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. There was no evidence to suggest foul play, according to the authorities.
