Carmine [Appice] knew that I was a big fan of Sly so he arranged the session. We went to San Francisco to do some recording and we were stuck in a hotel for 10 days and never saw him.

Eventually we got into the studio and Sly saw Carmine’s drums and said: “You can take half of that away, we don’t need that.” Then he disappeared into a back room and never came out again. He eventually called me through his microphonic system. I remember sitting in his office cross-legged, with his wife giggling, and we played for about two hours. I’ve got it on tape somewhere.
.
hmmm

Do u ever wonder if he is confused about things? I mean from what I have seen and heard from and about him for a while it's hard to imagine him even using a computer let alone storing files of legendary music on a hard drive just for himself. I dig Sly Stone but he is definitely at least a bit erratic.

I don't but i know that he's been using computers and MIDI and protools (probably used this when he moved to his RV again) and all that jazz since the 90s so he at least stayed with technology.
.
I guess that he got the hang of it all over time.

EBONY: Guitarist Jesse Johnson, who worked with Sly in the ’80s, said that he played him new tracks that were just amazing. Have you ever heard these songs?

CR: There was a lot of his stuff that got lost; something like 300 hundred songs that one of his assistants lost somewhere in our journeys. The assistant left it somewhere and it was never recovered.

Did Sly and Cynthia have much contact in the 1980s? I know they had a daughter together but I'm guessing Sly was MIA most of the time.

Exactly what i'm thinking. Only time that i ever saw them together was Electric Spanking and a 1986 reunion.

After that nothing.

That appears to have most of the original Family Stone together.

Oh, and Sly has that same nose problem he had on the Dick Cavett show in 1970.

Everyone apart from Freddie and Larry for obvious reasons. Interesting comment from that video:

.

Sly had just done some work with Jesse Johnson(Crazy) and with a song with the lead singer from the Motels. He was trying to get a band together called "The Jack of Spades" that went nowhere.

Sly been talkin' shit since 76... lol I'd keep it moving, there's a lot of music to be discovered and enjoyed. (IMHO)
