Nice article. I haven't looked at the online tutorials, etc, that the guitar makers are offering but as a former guitar teacher, I know this:
The best way I ever found to keep a student interested in guitar was to ask them what their favorite song was, and then teach them how to play that right off the bat. |

Only in the last decade or so of his life did he really receive any recognition from the general public as a great guitarist. The RRHOF induction and Super Bowl gig helped bring the general public around.
Slate had an article in the last year proclaiming Prince as the greatest guitarist who ever lived. He was featured on the cover of several guitar mags over his career. His signature song is guitar-driven. But he's still seen as more of an entertainer and persona than guitarist. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Prince was probably the most well-rounded pop musician of all time who could play band instru-
ments expertly (drums, keys, base, guitar, vocals) and could write and perform the tunes as well.
He was not the greatest guitarist of all time, but he was certainly proof of the Divine.
In other words, Prince is God showing off. |
