I doubt if you took a random poll of young people they could tell you one song.

On a good day he is not even on Jam and Lewis level of songwritting.

Next we will put Bones, Thugs and Harmony in the songwriters hall of fame.

lol If someone hums a Jay-Z song they're probably humming a sample.

Hov took it back to basics...AND he let NoI.D. (Common's old producer) make all the beats...sounds like real NewYorkCity rap for the first time in a while...no more trying to fit in with Drake, Ye, & Lil Wayne...new well written introspective lyrical content for a change (shoutout mjscarousal)...sounds closer to 2001 JayZ than he has in a long time...this nigga almost 50 & still got it...sweartogod...im surprised...now i can give Stokely's album a well needed break...

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but check the lyrics on Caught Their Eyes. He namechecks the Prince estate situation:

"I sat down with Prince, eye to eye/He told me his wishes before he died/Now, Londell McMillan, he must be color blind/They only see green from them purple eyes/They eyes hide, they eyes high/My eyes wide shut to all the lies/These industry niggas, they always been fishy/But ain't no Biggie, no lazy eye, huh/This guy a slave on his face/You think he wanted a master with his Masters?/You greedy bastards sold tickets to walk through his house/I'm surprised you ain't auction off the casket/Don't big bro me, don't big homie/I've seen pure admiration become rivals/I've been to Paris at least two times/I've seen the Eiffel, I've seen an eye full"

listening to this right now...this joint right here is vintage Blueprint 2 Jay Z... Just now noticing Frank Ocean on the hook...

So is he calling out his sister?? Because that is where the issue lies, if JAY Z "sat down" with him he should have been SMART enough to know that "telling what you wish" is not LEGALLY binding, also if PRINCE Was talking "after death" this shows that PRINCE knew he was not well, and Im not just talking aabout the addiction.

3 Stacks could have been a top 10 MC had he been more prolific and more focused on rhyming. When he spits he's fire.

Well, he's slowed down in the past 10 years or so but between 94-05, Outkast released 8 albums.

No doubt that OutKast as a group was prolific during their tenure.

I was looking at him more as a solo MC. As you indicate, he's released no albums of new material since Idlewild either with OutKast or on his own.

Fire verse.

But the estate blocking Tidal's streaming of the Prince catalog clearly had something to do with this.

His motives ain't entirely altruistic here.

I think its safe to say that Jay Z and Beyonces marriage is a business arrangement as I suspected. Who PROUDLY talks about cheating on their wife and having theesomes? wacky I don't understand why they want this narrative to be apart of their brand. eek And Beyonce is a DUMB and a very weak woman (which I also suspected), why stay and bare children with a man that repeatedly cheats and disrepects you and Jay Z is ugly as sin! I think its disrespectful to be talking about your escapades and getting caught considering he has children. Beyonce and Jay Z are media whores and no different than the Kardashions. I just think its shameful to use your spouse cheating escapades as a PR and then promote it as empowerment. They are horrible role models and I don't believe his take on the Estate with Prince. Jay Z is a liar and will say anything for attention.

why are you holding them to such high moral standards?...why do you judge their personal decisions so harshly?...its not like Michael and Janet are beacons of positivity...do you judge them similarly?...janet always told her personal business in her songs, and Michael died a self mutilated junkie...but somehow jayz is so wrong for being brutally honest in his lyrics?...a few threads ago u was complaining jayz always rhyming about the same shit...so when he defies that logic, now hes a villain for switching it up?...your hate for Camel is impressive...

Its pathetic their both (Jay Z and Beyonce) using Jay Z's cheating as PR in order to promote their records. If he wants to stop being a cheater....then stop why keep using that for attention? Its disrepectful when he going to keep cheating. The Same with Beyonce, why continue to bare children and stay with a cheater but then continue to put music out there about being cheated on and then promote it as empowerment to women nuts They are jokes. First Lemonade, now this. Its stupidity at its finest and none of them are good role models especially for the Black community. They are no different from the Kardashians at this point AND this post is not suprising coming from a captain save a..camel.

Jay Z don't walk on water either. He is not exempt from criticism just because your a stan. I am entitled to question the intergrity and motives of a ONCE private couple that is now airing out their personal business in an desperate attempt to stay relevant. The lyrics Ive heard sound corny as hell.

I remember LA Reid and Usher exploiting his cheating on Chilli when "Confessions" came out. It's been done before, (and well before them too I'm sure). Shawn knew everyone would be eager to hear his side of the "Lemonade" story. Seems like that storyline, his mom coming out lesbian, and the Prince Estate drama is getting all the headlines and getting people talking.

Shawn knew everyone would be eager to hear his side of the "Lemonade" story. Seems like that storyline, his mom coming out lesbian, and the Prince Estate drama is getting all the headlines and getting people talking.

Jermaine said that Confessions was not about Chili and was about one of his past relationships when he talked about writing for the album.Usher did not use Chilli in any of his videos. People largely assumed that the women being referred to in the songs were Chilli, however, Chilli is never referenced in any of the songs. Also, the songs can stand by themselves as good songs. Lemonade on the other hand is a mediocre album that was largely propelled by gossip surrounding Jay Z supposed cheating and that is the difference.

Of course Jay Z knows people are eagered to hear more gossip about their relationship troubles because he knows what gets publicity because he is a media whore. However, THIS time I think its going back fire and I'm glad. Its quite evident that the empowerment and feminism brand that Beyonce sales is a farse and she is a very weak women that puts up with Jay Z cheating. Whats sad is that she promotes this narrative to little girls and now the word on the street is, "well if Beyonce can stay with a cheating man, than so can I" just horrible role models. Its not a good look for their brand. Lemonade was a neutral stance in which it alluded to Jay Z possibly cheating and the videos helped illustrate that but the songs never explicitly give details as Jay Z does on this new album, bad move. Its going to hurt both of their brands. Jay Z looks like a disrepectful dog and Beyonce a weak and silly woman.

Good forbid an artist write what they know or in any way attempt to shatter the illusion that celebrity equals perfection.

If Jay z and Beyonce are anybody's role models, they've got bigger problems than having jay z and Beyonce as role models.

As far as what people like or dislike and think. Jay z is one of the most influential rappers of all time. Regarding this album I haven't heard it yet but from what I hear about it it's very personal and a revelation. The most grown up hip hop album released. I'll save my thoughts before I say anything else.

rolleyes

Jay Z and Beyonce have called themselves role models, social activists, feminists, etc so if they are calling themselves role models people have a right to hold them accountable to that. If they are not acting as role models should....why are people suddenly not entitled to question that? Its pathetic how yall throw on capes for these two media whores. After Jay revealed to having threesomes and egging on one of his mistresses in front of Beyonce in front of her after they had their first child, OH I firmly believe that marriage is a business arrangement. What loving HUSBAND would publicly disrespect his wife and children like that by revealing that to the world? Jay Z obviously doesn't give a fuq about Beyonce. Jay Z runs Beyonce that is what is evident. As narcisstic as Beyonce is, she is a very weak woman with no back bone and depends greatly on Jay Z. I believe they cheat on each other. I feel sorry for their children. They always dragging them into their PR agendas. I feel sorry for all the impressionable young girls and young boys that look up to them.

I don't have disdain, just tired of there PR and marketing gimmicks for attention. This is what music has turned into? And this new beef he is trying to start with Kanye is fake because Jay JUST recently praised Kanye in his list of rappers he liked after being inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This is how I know he is full of shit. Both of them are fake and frauds.

This is just childish and I have rationally given my thoughts about the bolded in this thread.I think to insintuate as public consumers people are not entitled to question or make judgements at what is being promoted to them is silly.Maybe you don't question or critically analyze things people market to you andtake things for what they are but I don't.... and thats doesn't mean I am obsessed. That is just what intelligent people do when something that is carefully calculated is being presented to them. I will always call these things out because its destroying music and the Black community. Respect is not something that is owed....it is earned. He has not done anything IMO that warrants me to respect him. If you want to respect him fine, that doesn't mean I have too.
