Thats the same thing I said when I read your post. Yall (as the org) always stanning hard for this overrated bimbo and his overrated wife and its pathetic.

Ive never stanned for Jay or Beyonce lol. Plus he isnt overrated as rapper just because you dont like him. And why does it bother you so muh when someone likes (or stans) for someone you dislike? Wait..dont answer. I already know lol

It doesn't bother me. I am making an observation. Yall (the org) are a joke with gutter taste in music. From the stanning of Elvis, to the stanning overrated industry token Carters, to the trashing of the Jacksons and other talented artists over mediocre ones, yall are a joke. No Jay Z is overrated and he is not overrated because I dislike him. There are legitimate things that support why he is overrated such as this thread for example but since you are a fan of this quack, this post is not surprising Lol

^ He is not a more influential songwriter than Madonna or George Michael (this is not subjective). The fact that he was picked over more influential songwriters makes him rightfully overrated.

No it makes him a famous name in music today.

But in this case, its appropiate to call Jay Z overrated. He was selected to be inducted in the songwriters Hall of Fame over Madonna and George Michael. That is absurd.

Jay is a rapper tho, different to being compared to pop writers like Madonna and George.

Why would he need to pay? He's been a top rapper since his debut album in 96. And he's released some of the best Hip-Hop albums of all-time well before he became "THE" Jay-Z that we all know today.

He got nominated for this award last year. It may be the other way around.

Jay has earned his stripes from rapping with Jaz-O to being Big Daddy Kanes hype man.

It doesn't matter hun, its called the SONGWRITERS Hall of Fame. That means its not looking specifically at musical genre. Its examining SONGWRITERS who were influential and demonstrated a superior level of songwriting and he is not more superior than Madonna and George Michael in that respect.

I really like you as a poster but you are delusional if you think he deserves to be inducted OVER Madonna and George Michael. He is not even the best rap songwriter, there are way more talented rap songwriters than him. Off the top of my head Nas and Tupac are way more superior. You keep throwing up his albums but that is not why he is being inducted. He is being inducted because of his SONGWRITING and his songwriting is mediocre compared to other more superior rappers, Madonna and George Michael.

Since when has Rolling Stones been credible? RS is trash. The lists and critiques they create are biased and politically driven. They always snub, neglect or minimize the impact of a lot of legendary artists and bands. So not sure why are you even mentioning them. Jay Z is a token Black which is why he is unfairly overrated on these lists. Madonna and George are not industry darlings like him so its not fair to refer to these lists as a accurate reflection of the impact of these artists.

You obviously don't listen to Madonna or GM, just say that. It is misguided to say a rapper you like is a better songwriter than another artist, "just because you prefer them"

What song has Jay Z written that has been more influential and groundbreaking than any of Madonna's classics she has written???

What song has Jay Z written that has been more artistic and superior to Nas?

Yes; it only speaks to their level of taste is different than yours - nothing else. Stop acting like
your taste is so much better than anybody else's as you and I both know that you do not have
the ability to tell us why your taste is better than anybody else's in the first place without appeal-
ing to "But, it's my opinion!"

rolleyes

I think Jay-Z sucks for reasons enumerated; but, I don't think that those who do like him have
"gutter taste." Stop being such a taste-snob and a taste-bully.

If you feel Jay Z is a stronger songwriter than Madonna, George Michael or Nas, why not just list all the Jay Z songs you think are more superior to M, GM or Nas songs?

It shouldn't be that hard since you think Jay Z is so much better than them.

Jay Z IS a token Black and he is largely successful because of tokenism.
