Hes actually does look older although he still does look young. You can see the youth in the 1990 photo. I just seen pic like this with adriana lima. As far as a music genius he just been recreating I cant help it by Mj for 20 years in my opinion.

I 100% do not agree with you!

Mr Williams is extremely prolific and MUCH more 'successful' than even our Beloved PRINCE

when it comes to consistantly making music that the general public can dig!

Yeah I love Pharrell. I dont know whether I'd agree that he is/was more successful than Prince but he is definately an influential producer. He also has said in interveiws that he loves steely dan and he thinks the nightfly is in his top 3 albums so I can definately dig that haha and his song It Girl is so good...

Chad Hugo did alot of the heavy lifting on most of Pharrell's classic joints....he never got the credit he deserves... Pharrell's music is not nearly as good when he works without him...

I didnt say he was talentless I like his reiterations of mj music personally I just struggle to call him genius. I like that song he did with jayz Frontin.

Yeah like i dont know if hes a genius but songs like fun fun fun are really cool (if you ignore the lyrics haha), reminds me heaps of I.G.Y. by Donald Fagen and that kinda steely dan sensibility that I love and like I think songs like It Girl are great but imo he has yet to put out a masterwork himself, though he has worked on a few (TPAB etc.)

That brings up an interesting observation can someone do genius work and not be a genius? I believe people have moments of genius and their standard work is dependent on there actual skills how refined those skills are and personal creativity.

Yeah i definately think thats true, but yeah i would think a genius is able to spontaneously produce amazing work and contanlty raise the bar, which I dont know if pharrel does but i can say that of alot of zappa's work and artists like the guys in steely dan put out a masterpeice every year in the 70s as Prince did in the 80s. I guess you could also say that about bands like zeppelin did this as well though Im not sure if I'd consider all their work to be of genius standard, though imo the rain song definately is haha

But yeah watching guys like Jacob collier on youtube kinda shows me the level of brilliance guys like that are on

That's a lot of hits! especially when you consider its not even close to a full list of his hits and its about 1% of his total output! cool

Meh I disagree more like any artist with a giant machine behind them will come to you. Doesn't matter how good the music is it means nothing if there's nothing backing it and pushing it out front in the public.

I think a lot of people on here are confusing their musical preferences with actual musical genius.

Curtis Mayfield, why? Well he was "master stoyteller" as the late Don Cornelius once said and quite prolific songwriter. He wrote almost ALL his own songs from the his time with Impresssions right up til the last album before his death and wrote 100s of songs for other artists like The Staple Singers and The Five Stairsteps. To give you an examle, he wtote "Gypsy Women" when he was 12 years old.....that's f**king genius right their.

Also:

Prince

David Bowie

Stevie Wonder

Sly Stone

Brian Wilson
