Changes to the 🇬🇧/UK singles charts

Really didn't realize how big of an issue this was, but Ed Dheeran has 16 out of the top 20(?) spots on the UK Charts. See the link below:

If he had 16 songs in the Top 20, what's the big deal? The charts were designed to report whatever song or album was the most popular that week. So if they're going to say let's limit the amount of songs a particular act can have at one time so other acts can have a chance to chart, then that's false reporting and so just get rid of the chart altogether. Record labels can also go back to the old method and start releasing 45s or CD singles again, which was what the singles chart was for and the charts can stop tracking streaming. Problem solved. Tracking streaming is not about singles, but whatever a lot of people are choosing to listen to. So if a lot of people are streaming all the songs on an album, then that's going to reflect in having 16 songs chart at one time. That's how in a short amount of time Lil' Wayne, Drake, Glee, & Nicki Minaj broke records in Billboard that were held for several decades. The labels killed the singles chart when they decided to stop releasing actual physical singles to get people to only buy the album. Not everybody cares about albums and its always been that way. That's why for some acts, their greatest hits/best of albums sold more than their regular albums. If people in general cared about albums, there would be no such thing as a "one hit wonder" and radio & jukeboxes would never had been popular in the first place.

the uk chart is irrelevant these days, it's just an indication of what 18 - 25 year olds have downloaded this week. i wish they'd do away with it
