Songs with the Steely Dan Sound / Influence ....
Donald and Walter are clearly in a class by themselves. ... But I've been coming across these tunes over the years-- tunes that feature the Jazzy/Blues licks, the Mu Chords--sometimes the Purdie Shuffle--- sometimes the wry lyrics....songs where you can definitely hear the Dan influence...or where it's a Steely tribute....

Good point about 1999, and Money Don't Matter...
I agree about Mayer, I had included a link a few posts up above, to "The Stars are Ours".... I read an interview where Mayer said he used to use them as a litmus test like, "if you don't like Steely Dan, I don't like you", LOL!!

Ndeed--Actually, I had to go back and Listen again--and there is that feel, especially with Prince on piano.... I could even hear this being played after a Dan tune like , "Your Gold Teeth II", were Donald is playing acoustic piano....
