I like it. Although I'm more for BIG female voices like Wynonna Judd when it comes to country. Her last album was good with her new band:

If it's funk you're after, I'd recommend the album "Loveline" by Diamond Ortiz. Just came out last year. He released another album called "Special Request" which I'd also highly recommend. Old school funk, kind of like Zapp.
I'd also recommend anything by the band "Lettuce". Take a listen, you'll hear why.

Technically, this is just a new arrangement & music video of a song they previously released.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

New stuff I've been listening to (2017)

Methyl Ethel, Thundercat, Sampha, Loyle Carner, Rolling Blackouts Costal Panic, Jay Som, Ibibio Sound Machine, Laura Marling, Jesca Hoop, Run the Jewels, Bonobo. girl Ray, Cherry Glazer, Justice

amongst others.

I mean new stuff from the established artists on the list. Snoops Rap over badbadnotgood's Lavender is worth checking out too. The badbadnotgood album from last year, 'IV', is high up on my playlist for this year though, it's really, really good.

Well you can't go wrong with Diamond Ortiz. He's one of the few artists keeping funk alive.

I'd probably recommend The Gaslight Anthem if you're into rock. They're kind of like a cross between Springsteen, punk and a bit of modern Bon Jovi. They're quite good.
