last year,they released it on a 2-LP vinyl.I gotta get that.SoulAlive said: What are your thoughts on Trombipulation? I love "Agony Of Defeet" (which recalls some of the finest P Funk jams,like "Flashlight" and "Knee Deep") and I think "Let's Play House" is a cool jam.Most of the other tracks are just 'OK'.Maybe I need to revisit this album again. Love the record but again it took some further headphone induced inspection. There is a lot more going on musically than initially meets the ear. From an arrangement standpoint it's one of the more consistent Parliament albums and a damn good quality offering. Real strings and show tune type horns and chyt. He took the group back to the future so to speak. They end the run right back where they had started all them years ago as The Parliaments. Everything on it is solid and Agony Of Defeet is actually the weakest track. Comes off to me as a toss off but the only thing here that could seriously get on the black radio. it's wild and outrageous,recalling their finest singles....musically,the sound is similiar to "Knee Deep".The 12" version is excellent.SoulAlive said:

on my list,I have 'Uncle Jam Wants You' at the very bottom of the Funkadelic albums.How do you guys feel about this album? I love the classic jam "Knee Deep",of course,but I find the album to be a little too gimmicky and silly.I think it needed a few more really strong tracks,anyone agree? | |

actually,I think Funkadelic's best albums are the ones they recorded for the Westbound label.Their three albums on Warner Bros. each have their moments,but aren't as strong as the Westbound albums. | |

no bad P-Funk album? Did you miss that whole mid-80s stuff, Jimmy G and the Tackheads (well, break my heart is not bad), Our Gang Funky and all that... hard to enjoy. I think that may be why only one album came out on them. Please revisit this album there are some good tracks on it. Clockwork, Family Funk, All or Nothing, Slingshot. Hard for me not to like this. Body Jacking was coming out as "The Tackheads" but something went down. GC went to Lige Curry with a few dollars and all of a sudden it was Incorporated Thang Band. The Funkadelic westbound is harder than the Warners stuff. He "crossed over" into mainstream R&B on his own terms though. There's still some guitar on them albums. Uncle Jam? Interesting little album. I like the idea of it. Holly Wants To Go and all that. Bootsy and Bernie are working out pretty hard on the title track though and Phillippe is outrageous here. | |

I just got this 5-CD box set containing 5 classic Parliament albums: Mothership Connection,The Clones Of Dr.Funkenstein,Funkentelechy Vs.The Placebo Syndrome,Motor Booty Affair,and Gloryhallastoopid.I wanted a set that I can keep in car.I have other sets like this by other artists,so I wasn't expecting much in terms of bonus tracks and amazing sound.But lo and behold,I played The Clones Of Dr.Funkenstein on the way to work and the sound is INCREDIBLE!! The CDs in this set have been remastered,I'm sure of it.The music jumps out at you....the bass and horns throughout are really,really powerful....crisp and vibrant.Trust me when I say that this set is a must-have!! | |

I find myself skipping over much of it.There is waaaaayyyy too much autotune and hip-hop sounds on this album.It's a mess.There are several really cool songs,though.

Jolene rocks, Yesterdejavu always reminds of the band Cream. Roller Rink wears on me after a while. What Would I Do is good, Snot 'n Booger, The Wall. There's some jams here. Believe me, the Parliament material he's been teasing about putting out sounds like nothing on this record. | |
