2017 Billboard Music Awards, Sunday May 21, ABC 8pm EST.

I will write about my favorite singers/performances from tonight's show later. Can't wait to see Cher sing!
Niki Minaj was the first performer. She was good.

Cher looks great, as always. Her birthday was yesterday 71. She looks better than some 30 year olds wink she Sang "If I could turn back time" and "Do you believe in Love". She also received the Billboard Icon Award.

My favorite performances from the show:

Cher, Amazing Dragons, Miley Cyrus, John Legend, Niki
Minaj.

Puffy was talking about Biggie and wished him a happy
birthday. He was also talking about the new movie
about Biggie. Biggie's son C.J. was on stage.

The other performances were good. Great show!

Prince lost all awards!? I call BS! Prince sold more albums than anybody else last year and how is it he lost every award he was nominated in? He should have at least won best soundtrack for Purple Rain.

The award is based on airplay and sales.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

No. Drake, Beyoncé, Hamilton Soundtrack all sold more units than Prince did, even if he sold a big deal. It's just the way it is. Plus, this is the last award Prince would care about if he was alive. It's truly utter bullshit, like, they spend millions of dollars on these shows to even gain more via ratings and promo, that's by inviting big names like Drake and Nicki Minaj.

Anyways, Bruno Mars, as fricking always, sent them a pre-recorded performance of Versace on the Floor live from Amesterdam while on tour.

And it goes without saying that it was the best performance of the night. Strong vocals, amazing song, feeling, vibe. Watch it become the #1 song in the country a few months later.

Billboard counts streaming now as part of their chart criteria, and Prince was not really on Youtube, other than the Cream video. A certain amount of streams count as a sale of 1 album. So that likely didn't help his chances. The songs posted there after his passing has nowhere near the same amount of views of a newer act like Drake or Adele. Then some of those have been taken down since. I don't think Tidal has enough widespread use compared to the services that existed before it.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

No they didn't:

Prince was the highest-selling artist of 2016 although when you factor in streaming then actual units sold are just the tip of the iceberg.

They will also start beginning to track things and units that the consumer MIGHT possibly buy, thinks about buying or talks about buying. Since sales are so god awful now in music sales they will do anything to pump up the new artists to make them SELL or believe their own shit numbers. BUT the fact is real that the old bands and artists still across the board get people out to the shows and even to the stores to buy shit . So I could care less that Drake streams this and Nicki has a million downloads or streams its all this build up for of artists that are forced on you now. BILLBOARD lost its relevance when it went this route and the numbers forget them, BS across the board.

Prince out sold them with his back catalog and although it was with his back catalog, he still outsold them nonetheless. He was robbed and should have been recognized for it.

And Adele and Drake both out sold Beyonce, Drake had the biggest globall single for streams and sells with One Dance but for some strange reason Beyonce still won top grossing album and single so yea Billboard is full of shit. She won other awards over Rihanna, that she did not deserve. Drake deserved his wins and Rihanna was once again Snubbed

I dont understand why yall put so much clout in these awards when its very clear that they give the awards to whoever they want to give them too and these awards and nominations are brought. hmmm An award is no indicator of greatness, influence or legacy. Prince will always be a legend and far more influential than any of the artists that won at last night Billboards.

I agree. There awards are not based on pure numbers as once before. They are just giving these awards out to whoever they want to give it too. How can you award someone with biggest global album when it wasn't even the biggest global album statistically? eek I want to know what is the dealwith Rihanna though and why the industry snubs her. If we going by pure sales and streams, she deserve to win some awards last night. Overall, I agree with you. These award shows just give out these awards and nominations so they can just put on an award show, there is no legitmacy or merit to them.
