Who the f**k is Kenny Chesney?

I was watching a Family guy episode yesterday and it was when Brian had a brain tumour that dropped his IQ to around 70 or 80 and he became a regular dumbass like Peter. He kept referring to being led to a Kenny Chesney concert, when Stewie had led him somewhere else.

.

My curiosity was piqued and I instantly though Kenny Chesney must be some musical artist who appeals to really dumb people, I looked him up and saw he was a huge selling Country artist and that his concerts are marred by fighting rednecks and yokels who leave mountains of rubbish everywhere. Is this true, is he any good, what do you all think of Kenny Chesney - does his reputation precede him.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

He was my favorite Country artist name to say to say out loud until we were gifted the name Dierks Bentley. I think Kenny Chesney is "huge selling" with ladies that have vivid imaginations ala Bieber or Enrique Iglesias but for the WalMart set.

Country music gets a bad rap for harboring stupid people or whatever. But these stupid people have expendable cash to go to shows, travel to events, as well as support their families. Country music is just the white man's version of the black man's blues. His appeal reaches male and female audiences. When I went to the show, it was definitely 50/50. It wasn't more women, by any means.

Kenny Chesney is a huuuge country artist in the U.S. He's been around for quite a while. His concerts are not marred by people fighting or whatever. It's a ridiculous notion. It's Guns n' Roses fans that tore up an arena. It's Metallica fans that set shit on fire. In fact, he's one of the most fan-friendly country acts out there. I've never heard of any of that shit at a Kenny concert.

I went to a Chesney concert last year, and it was one of the most fun shows. I had upper seats, so I wasn't up and on my feet like everyone else. But people were having so much fun. Even his opening act came out near the end and sung with him (something main acts rarely do - have the support act(s) come back out to get more stage time). I'm not a country music fan, but a friend worked at the arena (he was security) and got an extra ticket. I went with his wife and two friends. They even upgraded the friend's teenage daughter to the sand dollar row, which is a section of the audience between two horizontal catwalks of the stage. So those folks were sorta in the show in a way. It was closer than front row, really.

Kenny has a great philosophy in life. He doesn't live in the U.S. much, unless he's working. He owns a home (possibly an island) in the Caribbean somewhere. His easy going life is prevalent in his music and videos. Quite a few years ago he chose not to stay in places like L.A. or even Nashville (the country music capital of the U.S. pretty much) because of the hubbub of it all. He really embraced a barefoot beach easy going lifestyle. It speaks to my inner hippy.

The fact that someone watched an adult-oriented cartoon on TV, and let that storyline bleed into reality is sorta....dumb. (You aren't dumb of course, the idea is dumb.)

Leave it to you to make it about race. You look for a fight where there isn't one.

How many damn Tupac, Biggie, NWA, Public Enemy, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem,, etc concerts have had incidents? And you're listing plane flights??? There are drunks at every damn concert ever. So pick a real reason to make it about race, mmkay?

Here is the mistake that you are making I did not make it about race. It just exsist. How is it that a bunch of ignorant rednecks can tear up the same venue year after year and the show continues to go on. Trust me if this was the Snoop Dog show it would have only been one time at that venue. This is real life and nothing to pick a fight about. After all there are no fights at Kenny Cheasny's show.

Kenny is from my town (Knoxville). I don't know him (Knoxville is about 700,000 metro), but he has a good reputation here with minimal controversy. His fans tend to be more diverse than you think, and his concerts are not known to be especially violent. Not a fave of mine though.

My original question was not about the race of the act or his fans, it was about some hilarious pop culture references on a Family Guy episode. If I was attacking a group of people, it was uneducated rednecks, not all white people in the USA as I know there are some very fine white people like there are some very fine Black and Hispanic people and some less fine ones.

.

From what LauraRichardson posts, it seems the guy leaves a trail of trouble and fighting heehaws and yamacraws wherever he goes lol I would not be surprised if most of the fans and even Chesney knew that New Zealand is a country and not a town in Oregon. Yet from what is shown, the US media play down incidents at his concerts with drunken yahoos (Having too much fun), yet at a Black Rap show, its always the media going on about people shot, rampaging thugs and feral gangsters, along with antisocial rappers and their gutter music. Seems if a Black person sneezes, they give the world rheumatic fever, but if a white guy does, he has an annoying sneeze pestering him. I knew asking a question about country music would lead to a racial divide. You Americans need to love each other more and stop making everything so damn racial all the time.

.

In New Zealand, we have our own country music scene and even like a few American stars like Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn etc, but it is not just white New Zealanders, Maori (Polynesian, Brown and non white) New Zealanders love country too and one our biggest local stars Dennis Marsh is very Maori. Yet just as many White New Zealanders as Brown ones love rap too. There are no real race divides when it comes to music here.

.

Generally I don't like post 2010 Family guy, as it has become very gory and mean spirited, but every now and then, they pop out some funny episodes and Brian becoming a dumbass was hilarious.

.

Not sure about this guy, I thought I would ask and thank those of you who gave me answers which confirm my opinion, the gguy is a drunken roustabout that encourages the worst in drunken rednecks.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

You are just not getting it. There are country acts known for their "outlaw status" and draw a rough crowd. Kenny Chesney isn't one of them. He is very mainstream, and sells out in all the major cities in the US. The fact that Trivial Pursuit, who has come out here as a gay man, can go and have a great time at one of his concerts is further proof of this.

I'm sure you have some lol . I actually meant that gays wouldn't be welcomed at the sterotype of a country concert as described by the OP.

Thank you for getting it. I wish we did not have a racial divide but we do and we cannot remove that divide by pretending things that are unpleasant to talk about should not be discussed.

I also do not think Kenny is a bad guy he just has some idiot fans and I think "The Family Guy" was making fun of that.
