And don't forget Fats Domino. He's still hanging around in New Orleans.

I fucking love Little Richard. I literally grew up with his music all around in our household. I hope he's doing fine. He's 84. God bless him.

Unfortunately, he had to give up touring after problems, I think, associated with hip replacement surgery. But, it sure took a lot to make him stop touring. Chuck Berry, too. That generation was hard-core.

My Dad used to tell me that not only did Chuck Berry invent rock and roll, but before Chuck Berry came along, there was NO YOUTH CULTURE in the United States. It was a a boring staid ADULTS ONLY culture. The obsession with youth that permeates every aspect of American culture today is largely the result of CHUCK BERRY (who interestingly was NOT a youth himself when he brought about these changes...) It's way bigger than music. Man, what a guy!

Elvis Presley also had a lot to do with that. He wasn't the musical innovator that Berry was, but he was the one that had the largest appeal. He had the image, the looks, he was the one that made rock & roll famous.

--He had the largest appeal because that is the way the music industry wanted it. Chuck had influence which is much better than appeal.

sad rose Chuck was just 10 years short of age 100. But it was still an excellent life despite the flaws within a rock & roll lifestyle. cool

I am sorry if it is him so what? As long as he was not forcing anyone to do anything against their will.

Not my cup of tea but what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is not anyone's business.

Besides when people have this type of dark stuff going on it is usually a sign of some sort of trauma and is unfortunate that back in the day there was no therapy or help to stop people from going to the dark side.

However, he DID secretly videotape women using the restrooms in his restaurant. That is NOT consensual.

Chuck Berry was a genius though, and a great innovator. You have to seperate the art from the artist

I love chuck berry his music has so much life and character to it. It's smart and the sound of an era. No one really compares to him at all. He is the wellspring everyone goes to fill their canteen be it Prince Jimi Hendrix the Beatles the Rollingstones etc. He's in a class with James Brown as the foundation and the pinnacle.

Electric Light Orchestra tribute at the 2017 Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
