R.I.P. Chuckie Bush

CHARLES "CHUCKIE" BUSH, beloved Indianapolis native son who first rose to the national spotlight in the `70s soul band Manchild, left this Earth on the weekend of February 4, 2017 in his Las Vegas home. Chuckie was a multi-instrumentalist but especially noted for his virtuoso skills on keyboards. He was also a singer, songwriter and musical arranger. He was the lead vocalist on Manchild's biggest hit single, "Especially For You," which charted on BILLBOARD's Top 100 R&B Singles in 1977 (from their first of two albums, Power and Love, on Chi-Sound/United Artists Records). Manchild was the self-contained 7-piece `70s Soul band that launched the careers of Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Daryl Simmons and Reggie Griffin.
As a session player, Chuckie was the keyboardist on Soul man Walter Jackson's cover of Pop-Rock heartthrob Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way"(Chi-Sound/United Artists - 1977).
More recently, Chuckie had been playing keyboards for Cameo. He missed a show with them on Saturday, February 4th in Las Vegas which led to the discovery that he had died...according to Vegas police apparently in his sleep.
To honor Charles "Chuckie" Bush's memory, several musicians are gathered in Indianapolis for a fundraiser benefit on Sunday, February 19th to offset the costs of his homegoing.
